Carmelo Anthony on 'Little Brother' Kristaps Porzingis' Injury: 'It's Sad'

Adam Wells

After the New York Knicks announced Kristaps Porzingis suffered a torn ACL during Tuesday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks, Carmelo Anthony offered sympathy to his former teammate.

Speaking to reporters after the Oklahoma City Thunder's 125-105 win over the Golden State Warriors (via Fred Katz of the Norman Transcript), Anthony said Porzingis' injury was "sad."

Porzingis was injured early in the second quarter of New York's 103-89 loss after stepping on Giannis Antetokounmpo's foot following a dunk.

Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania reported Porzingis' return timetable will be determined after he undergoes surgery.

Anthony and Porzingis spent two seasons as teammates with the Knicks from 2015 to 2017. New York traded Anthony to the Thunder in September, making Porzingis the present and future face of the franchise in the process.

The 22-year-old Porzingis was named to his first All-Star team this season. He averaged a career-high 22.7 points per game in 48 contests.
