Kansas Player Refuses to Shake Baker Mayfield's Hand During Coin Toss

Andrew Gould

Saturday's contest between 9-1 Oklahoma and 1-9 Kansas figured to offer little drama. Yet tension erupted before the opening kickoff.

During the coin flip, Baker Mayfield extended his hand to a Jayhawks captain. When left hanging, the Sooners quarterback snapped his head back and clapped.

Per the Oklahoman's Jenni Carlson, Mayfield engaged in an altercation following the rebuff.

Kansas' ploy might have backfired, as the Heisman Trophy candidate threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Rodney Anderson on Oklahoma's second drive.
