Growing up, Devin Booker's father Melvin Booker played basketball overseas. As Devin got older, his mother let him visit his father while playing in Milan, Italy, for the Olimpia Milano.  

During this time, Danilo Gallinari was on the NBA's radar and months away from being selected sixth overall in the 2008 NBA draft.
