Clippers' Willie Reed Arrested on Domestic Violence Charge

Los Angeles Clippers center Willie Reed was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery in Miami early Sunday morning for his alleged role in a domestic violence incident, according to David Ovalle of the Miami Herald.

Tania Francois of CBS4 provided Reed's mugshot:

As of 7:30 a.m. ET, Reed remained jailed at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel reported that "bond was posted at $1,500, with Reed later released to former Heat teammate Okaro White, according to Miami-Dade court records." Winderman continued with additional details on the incident:

"According to the arrest report, Reed grew upset after his wife told him that she wanted a divorce, with an argument following on the balcony of the condo. A struggle then ensued, when Reed's wife took her purse and her husband attempted to take it away.

"Reed's wife said she was knocked to the ground while attempting to take her purse. Jasmine Reed said Willie Reed also grabbed her by the shirt, hair, wrist and arm. She said she then struck her husband with a glass candle.

"Willie Reed said he never struck his wife, but did touch her hair, purse and shirt."

Reed, 27, signed with the Clippers for the veteran's minimum in August. The center played for the Miami Heat in 2016-17, serving as Hassan Whiteside's backup.
