Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace announced Wednesday that Mike Glennon will enter training camp as the team's starting quarterback. 

According to Adam Hoge of WGN Radio, Pace said he is "very confident" in Glennon as the starter.

Per JJ Stankevitz of CSN Chicago, it was also announced that veteran Mark Sanchez will enter camp as the backup with rookie Mitchell Trubisky settling in as the No. 3 signal-caller for now.

The Bears traded up one spot in the draft to take Trubisky with the No. 2 overall pick. However, the strong-armed quarterback only started one season at North Carolina and is likely in need of some seasoning.

This leaves Glennon, who signed a three-year deal with the Bears in the offseason after four seasons mostly as a backup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as the starter. He has only made two regular-season appearances, including zero starts, in the last two seasons.

However, the organization is clearly comfortable with his ability to help turn around a squad that went just 3-13 last season.

"I think Glennon's personality is that of a leader, and that's on and off the field," receiver Kevin White said, per Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times. "I feel he always makes the right choices, the right decisions, whether that's eating bad, eating good. He's always right on point."

It will be an uphill battle to lead the Bears to a winning season, especially after losing talented receiver Alshon Jeffery, but the 27-year-old will try to show he is up for the challenge.

Meanwhile, Trubisky will be waiting in the wings for his chance at the spotlight if Glennon struggles throughout camp and the preseason.

Per Spotrac, the veteran will make $16 million this season but his cap hit will drop dramatically heading into 2018. If he doesn't do his job, he could be on the open market again next offseason.
