Paul Millsap Rumors: Suns Reportedly Pull Out of Sweepstakes for Free-Agent Star

The Phoenix Suns have reportedly halted their pursuit of free-agent power forward Paul Millsap, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Citing sources, Wojnarowski reported Saturday that the Suns are opting to embrace a younger team-building approach. Specifically, he noted Phoenix is amenable to trading veterans and absorbing contracts via salary dumps as a way to net additional draft picks.

TNT's David Aldridge noted Millsap's asking price was "too high" for the Suns, who will now pivot back to their rebuild and aim to develop a promising core that consists of Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker, Josh Jackson and Marquese Chriss.

As far as Millsap's eventual landing is concerned, Aldridge cited the Denver Nuggets as the frontrunner to land Millsap after he heard the Minnesota Timberwolves "also may be out" of talks.

On Saturday, Wojnarowski reported Nuggets brass, including team president Josh Kroenke, president of basketball operations Tim Connelly, head coach Michael Malone and shooting guard Gary Harris all traveled to Atlanta to pitch Millsap on a future in Denver.
