Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Mitchell Trubisky is prepared to support Mike Glennon, the team's expected starter under center, heading into the 2017 NFL season. 

Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk passed along comments the second overall pick made about the situation Friday during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

"Mike's a great dude," Trubisky said. "He's an absolute pro. We've got a great quarterback room with him, Mark Sanchez and Connor Shaw. So we've all been helping each other compete and getting better every day. But Mike's the starter, and I'm behind him all the way."

The Bears' moves at quarterback during the offseason have created a logjam at the position.

They signed Glennon to a three-year, $45 million contract, including $18.5 million in guaranteed money, early in free agency. So it came as a surprise when they traded up in the draft to select Trubisky with the No. 2 pick after acquiring it from the San Francisco 49ers.

Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune noted Chicago's presumptive starter wasn't made aware of the front office's plans to invest an early pick in another quarterback and a source told the outlet he felt "cheated on" when the selection was announced.

Glennon struck a more stoic tone when discussing the potential quarterback competition at a mid-June minicamp. He pointed out playing well would defer any questions about who should start this season, per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

"That's the main thing," he said. "If I play well, everything will work itself out. And if I let something get in my head that could potentially make me not play as well, I want to avoid that as much as possible."

Meanwhile, the first-year player out of UNC said the quarterbacks are working well together despite the possibility of a QB controversy down the road.

"It's my job to come in, learn the offense as fast as possible and then just go out there and compete," Trubisky told SiriusXM NFL Radio. "[Glennon's] helping me with anything I need help with, and I'm there for him, just being another set of eyes on the field."

It's a situation that's sure to generate more attention when the Bears kick off training camp in late July, and it will only become more complicated if Trubisky plays well during the preseason.
