Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue heaped praise on the Golden State Warriors after they romped to a 113-91 Game 1 win over the defending champions on Thursday night.
Speaking to reporters at Oracle Arena, Lue said the Warriors are the "best I’ve ever seen," according to CBS Sports' Sean Wagner-McGough.
"No other team has done this," Lue added, per Sports Illustrated's Ben Golliver. "13-0. They constantly break records every year."
Lue's complete comments were documented by 95.7 The Game on Twitter:
The Cavaliers were outclassed for the majority of Game 1, and Lue acknowledged that finding ways to slow down the Warriors in front of the Bay Area faithful is among the toughest tasks his team will face.
"They're tough at home, we know that," Lue said, according to the Cavaliers' official Twitter account. "I mean, they probably lost eight games over the course of three seasons. We know coming into this building it's gonna be a tough game for us."
However, Lue noted that exposure to the Warriors' rapid-fire attack should prepare his team to be better conditioned for Game 2.
"Just getting a chance to see how they play, the style of play, how fast they play, you can't really simulate that in practices," he said.
"When we experience that, we're able to adjust, and we're a lot better."
That much was clear a year ago, when the Cavaliers found their footing and clawed back to win the Larry O'Brien Trophy following blowout losses in the series' first two games.
But with Kevin Durant—who erupted for 38 points, eight rebounds and eight assists Thursday—in the fold, the Warriors resemble a more daunting challenge than they did a year ago.
