On Tuesday, the NCAA released ratings for the 2017 national championship game between the North Carolina Tar Heels and Gonzaga Bulldogs.     

According to the organization's official website, Monday night's contest at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, did a "14.5/24 rating/share in the metered markets, up 21 percent from last year and the third-highest rating for the national championship since 2005."

It also noted "NCAA March Madness Live generated an all-time best 4.4 million live video streams for last night's championship game, an increase of 29 percent over last year."

Per that report, the CBS and Turner Sports coverage averaged a 7.2/15 rating/share, up 13 percent from a year ago.

North Carolina defeated Gonzaga 71-65—redemption for the Tar Heels after last year's heartbreaking title game loss to the Villanova Wildcats via Kris Jenkins' now-legendary buzzer-beating three-pointer following Marcus Paige's ridiculous game-tying three in the waning seconds.

While Monday's contest didn't offer any moments as memorable, but it was tightly contested throughout and offered the compelling contrast between a major power in the Tar Heels and a successful mid-major in the Bulldogs, who were making their first Final Four appearance in program history.
