The round of 16 is filling up quickly in both the men's and women's draws at the Miami Open.
Sunday's action featured big names in each bracket as well as a handful of hometown favorites continuing their quest to bring home a title at one of the bigger non-Grand Slam events of the year. Some of the top seeds also found some serious trouble with the competition getting tougher.

The first top seed that was eliminated came without a match being played, as No. 3 Milos Raonic was forced to withdraw due to a hamstring injury.
"It got progressively worse after my first round, after practicing yesterday, and it seemed like it was not possible for me to compete today without putting myself at significant risk," Raonic told reporters, per ATPWorldTour.com.
No. 5 Rafael Nadal seemed like he would have preferred this path based on his opening set against No. 26 Philipp Kohlschreiber. The Spanish star dropped the first set 6-0, which Ben Rothenberg of the New York Times noted was a rare feat:
Things turned around quickly for the veteran, however, with Nadal winning 12 of the next 17 games to win the match.
Kohlschreiber earned three breaks on three chances in the first set, but he didn't see another opportunity the rest of the day.
No. 2 Kei Nishikori also had a tough time in the form of No. 25 Fernando Verdasco. The first two sets went to a tiebreak with each man taking one, setting up a decisive third set.
By that point, it was all Nishikori, as the Japanese star won 6-1 in a nearly flawless third set. Jose Morgado of Record Portugal discussed the effort while providing a preview of the tournament ahead for the second seed:
Jack Sock took care of business in prime time in front of the home crowd despite six double-faults to only three aces. Jiri Vesely forced a tiebreak in the second set but was shutout from there as the American secured the win.
Fabio Fognini and Donald Young also advanced despite tough challenges from Frenchmen Jeremy Chardy and Benoit Paire, respectively.
The women's draw saw No. 8 Madison Keys go down in straight sets to Lara Arruabarrena, although the entire match was close.
Although the underdog won only eight more total points in the match, she won them when it counted by saving 11 of her 13 break chances. This was enough to come through with a 7-5, 7-5 win that took almost two hours.
The other top players didn't have too much trouble getting through their Sunday matches.

While the top seed still has to improve her accuracy on her serve, her return game was excellent.
No. 3 Simona Halep also cruised to victory against Anett Kontaveit, going 18-of-21 on first-serve points to win 6-3, 6-0.
Venus Williams had a similar story even with her seven double-faults. She still dominated Patricia Maria Tig thanks to her ability to attack the second serve. Tig finished just 2-of-17 on her second serves, which led to the 6-3, 6-0 final.

Things should be much tougher in the next round as Williams will take on No. 7 Svetlana Kuznetsova in one of the top matches to watch Sunday.
