The Chicago Bears are reportedly expected to sign quarterback Mike Glennon to a three-year deal when free agency officially opens Thursday.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the three-year contract is expected to pay Glennon an average of $14.5 million per season. Adam Schefter of ESPN added that the deal will include $19 million in guaranteed money.

Per Spotrac, the deal would make Glennon the NFL's 23rd-highest-paid quarterback for the 2017 campaign.

Glennon attempted just 11 passes last season as Jameis Winston's backup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he did not see the field in 2015.

The former third-round pick out of NC State did start 18 games in his first two seasons, however, posting a 5-13 record.

Glennon's most extensive action came as a rookie in 2013 when he threw for 2,608 yards, 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 13 starts.

The signing likely spells the end of the Jay Cutler era in Chicago, which is a move Benjamin Allbright of AM1340 and 104.7 FM in Denver doesn't support:

Detroit Lions quarterback Dan Orlovsky has confidence in Glennon as an NFL starter, though:

Glennon will take the reins for a Bears team that went 3-13 last season and hasn't reached the playoffs since 2010.

The fact that Glennon is just 27 with fairly limited playing time in his career suggests he has yet to reach his potential, but Chicago also holds the No. 3 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft, and Rapoport indicated that the Bears still plan to select a quarterback at some point in the draft.
