4-Star DT Taron Vincent Commits to Ohio State Buckeyes

One of the class of 2018's biggest prizes is off the market, as defensive tackle Taron Vincent committed to Ohio State on Sunday.

He broke the news on his Twitter account:

According to Scout.com, Vincent is a 4-star prospect who ranks as the No. 21 overall player and No. 1 defensive tackle in his class.

Vincent is a product of the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, and his football roots run deep, as he is the son of former NFL defensive back and current NFL executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent.

The younger Vincent told Bleacher Report's Sanjay Kirpalani in August 2016 that his father has been a huge part of his development as a football player: "It's a great experience to learn from him and to have him be able to guide me along the way. He's been there every step, and he lived it during his career, so he usually has all the answers to my questions, and that's a cool thing. It's a blessing."

Due to Vincent's bloodlines and elite talent on the field, he became a target for many of the top programs in the nation, including Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State and Alabama, per Scout.com.

With so many high-profile schools in pursuit of him, Vincent didn't rush his decision, as he took multiple factors under consideration, according to Kirpalani: "Academics. I want the school to have my major. I want to get along well with the coaching staff. I also want to make sure I fit into the environment there and just to get along with the players there."

Vincent has a stout, powerful frame at 6'1" and 290 pounds, and he excels at both stuffing the run and rushing the passer.

As seen in this highlight video posted by Vincent on Twitter, he is especially adept at bullying his way through opposing offensive lineman:

Vincent has proved at the high school level that he can take over games as an interior lineman much like Jonathan Allen did in college during his time at Alabama.

He has all the tools needed to be an impact performer as soon as he steps onto a collegiate field, and it is easy to envision him being a high NFL draft pick in the near future.

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has dominated as a recruiter at every stop during his college football career, and that continues to be the case with the Buckeyes.

OSU has been in the national title hunt on a yearly basis during the Meyer era, and continuing to build an already-strong defense with the addition of Vincent should help the Buckeyes remain near the top of the heap.

There is a ton of competition in the Big Ten currently, but Ohio State has positioned itself to be the cream of the crop, provided Vincent continues to be a game-wrecker at the college level.
