Patriots Need Bennett Healthy with Gronkowski's Health Issues

The 2014 Pro Bowler has dealt with nagging ankle issues all season long, but they haven't been particularly serious.

Although he's been listed questionable several times since first appearing on the injury report, he's been able to suit up since the Patriots' bye week and serve as an effective pass-catcher for quarterback Tom Brady.

Now 10 games into his first season with the reigning AFC East champions, Bennett has caught 39 passes for 518 yards and four touchdowns working as the team's No. 2 tight end behind Rob Gronkowski, who has struggled to stay healthy this season.

"He's a big player, he's talented, blocks well, runs well, he has got skills in the passing game and the running game," head coach Bill Belichick said, per NESN's Zack Cox. "I'd say there's really not a whole lot that it looks like he can't do. It looks like he can do pretty much everything you want a tight end to do. He's smart, very smart."
