Colin Kaepernick Reportedly Has Never Registered to Vote in Any Election

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who admitted to not voting in last week's presidential election, has apparently never been a registered voter.

According to Alexei Koseff of the Sacramento Bee, Kaepernick turned 18 in 2005 but hasn't registered to vote in the state of California or in Nevada—where he played college football at the University of Nevada—since then.

When asked about not voting in this year's election, Kaepernick said the following Sunday, per Jill Martin of CNN.com: "You know, I think it would be hypocritical of me to vote. I said from the beginning I was against oppression, I was against the system of oppression. I'm not going to show support for that system. And to me, the oppressor isn't going to allow you to vote your way out of your oppression."

The controversial signal-caller also expressed apathy toward the result of the election, according to ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss: "I've been very disconnected from the systematic oppression as a whole. So, for me, it's another face that's going to be the face of that system of oppression. ...And to me, it didn't really matter who went in there. The system still remains intact that oppresses people of color."

Kaepernick has been at the forefront of the racial injustice discussion in the NFL this season, as his decision to kneel during the playing of the national anthem during the preseason galvanized many other players to demonstrate as well.

The 29-year-old veteran has continued the practice during the regular season, which he described as his protest against "a country that oppresses black people and people of color," per NFL.com's Steve Wyche
