Chelsea Transfer News: Cesc Fabregas Wants Blues Stay Amid Latest Exit Rumours

Rory Marsden

Cesc Fabregas is reportedly prepared to remain at Chelsea until the end of the season even if he continues to be overlooked for first-team action by manager Antonio Conte.

The Spaniard has started only one Premier League game in the 2016-17 season and has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge—AC Milan have previously been reported as interested—but Fabregas has "told pals he plans to stick around until the end of this season at least before making a decision on whether to stay or go," per Andrew Dillon in the Sun.

Fabregas, 29, has more than two years remaining on his current Chelsea deal having signed a five-year contract upon his move to west London from Barcelona in 2014.

According to Squawka's Greg Stobart, the midfielder would consider a potential loan move away from Chelsea in January, but only to an elite-level club.

Fabregas played a huge part in Chelsea's 2014-15 Premier League title win under manager Jose Mourinho during his first season at Stamford Bridge.

However, his form dropped off considerably last term, a contributing factor to the Blues' disappointing 10th-place league finish.

He is now struggling to break into Conte's starting midfield ahead of Nemanja Matic and N'Golo Kante and recently picked up a thigh injury.

Per the Mirror's Steve Stammers, along with Milan, Juventus and Inter Milan have also been linked with Fabregas.

He was further linked to Real Madrid and Monaco in the summer transfer window, per Bleacher Report's Dean Jones:

The Spain international is a Premier League, La Liga, FIFA World Cup and two-time UEFA European Championship winner and could still be a hugely valuable asset at a number of clubs.

However, if he is happy to remain on the bench at Chelsea until at least the summer, any potential suitors will have to play a waiting game if they want to sign him.
