Report: Robinson Being Pursued by at Least 4 Teams

Saturday, July 2

According to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders, the Dallas Mavericks, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans and San Antonio Spurs are among the teams in the hunt for the former University of Kansas standout.

Robinson is set to enter his fifth NBA season after being selected No. 5 overall in the 2012 draft by the Sacramento Kings.

The 25-year-old has already played for five different teams and spent the entire 2015-16 campaign with the Brooklyn Nets.

Robinson appeared in a career-high 71 games last season but averaged just 4.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest in what was primarily a reserve role.

His career averages of 4.9 points and 4.8 rebounds aren't reflective of his status as a high lottery pick, but he still has untapped potential that could make him attractive to teams on the open market.

Provided the Mavs manage to re-sign Dirk Nowitzki, all of the teams that are reportedly pursuing Robinson already have studs at the power forward position. The T-Wolves boast Karl-Anthony Towns, the Pelicans have Anthony Davis and the Spurs signed LaMarcus Aldridge last offseason.

Robinson would be a bench player for any of those organizations, but he could be a worthwhile reclamation project who shouldn't cost much.

There is no question that Robinson has left plenty to be desired during his NBA career, but as he prepares to enter his prime, he still has some value because of the high ceiling he flashed during his time at Kansas.
