Craig Sager is throwing cancer a curveball—or at least smacking it with a first pitch.

Wednesday night at Wrigley Field saw the beloved NBA on TNT sideline reporter throwing the introductory ceremonial toss as a part of the Chicago Cubs' "Conquer Cancer Day."

The moment was one of great significance for the 64-year-old, not only as a symbol of strength for those with the same disease but also as a lifelong Cubs fan.

"It's such an honor for me," Sager said of the experience with his favorite team before recounting the history of his relationship with squad legend Billy Williams:

Sager's joy was evident to his children, Kacy, Krista and Craig Jr., who ranked his appreciation of the evening a 10/10 and shared his history of cutting class to attend Cubs contests:

According to David Haugh of the Chicago Tribune, the eccentric-suit-wearing Sager purchased 31 tickets for loved ones to attend the ballpark festivities—most notably, his rendition of "Take Me Out to The Ball Game" during the seventh-inning stretch.

"My dad was a huge Cubs fan and they didn't win a World Series in his lifetime, and they haven't won one in my lifetime or in my kids' lifetimes,'' the Illinois native told Haugh. "Hopefully this is the year.''

They now certainly have the inspiration.
