Stephen Curry Responds to Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook's Defensive Criticism

Joe Pantorno

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is indifferent to what Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook think of his defense.

The Oklahoma City duo's comments came after Game 5. Westbrook scoffed when asked if Golden State's guard is an underrated defender, and Durant claimed Curry doesn't guard the opposition's top players.

Curry spoke with the media Saturday before Game 6, per Matt Moore of CBS Sports, and offered a reply.

"Honestly, I could[n't] care less about other people's opinions about me," he said. "I know what I do for my team and what my teammates expect from me on both ends of the floor."

The question came on the heels of Curry picking Durant's pocket in the final minutes of Game 5, which helped seal Golden State's win to cut its deficit to 3-2.

As a player known for his offensive ability, Curry doesn't grab much attention on the defensive side of the game. But advanced stats say that he's actually a solid defender:

While he played off Durant's and Westbrook's comments, Curry will have an opportunity to show them how good of a defender he is Saturday night when Game 6 tips off at 9 p.m. ET from Oklahoma City.

If he's able to help shut down fellow point guard Westbrook in Oklahoma City and force a Game 7, the Thunder's stars might quickly change their tunes.
