Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel turned himself in to police in Highland Park, Texas, on Wednesday afternoon after he was indicted on an assault charge stemming from an alleged attack on his ex-girlfriend, according to Fox 4.

Fox 4 relayed Manziel's mugshot shortly after he posted $1,500 bond:

Manziel appeared in court Thursday, and the judge ruled that Manziel is not allowed to have any contact with his ex-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, and can't possess a firearm, per Ari Melber of MSNBC. Manziel's next court date is scheduled for June 24, per Omar Ruiz of NFL Network.

Back in February, WFAA's Rebecca Lopez reported Manziel had been accused of hitting and threatening to kill Crowley during the early morning hours of Jan. 30 following a night out in Dallas.

According to the Associated Press, via USA Today, "Crowley said in court documents that Manziel struck her so hard that she temporarily lost hearing in one ear, and the indictment accuses him 'forcing [her] into a vehicle and against a vehicle dashboard.'"

However, after Manziel was indicted, his defense team said he would enter a plea of not guilty.

"If this were Johnny Smith, the district attorney's office would have declined to accept the case, in my judgment," Manziel's attorney, Robert Hinton, told the AP. "This is not a very credible case. As a matter of fact, it's incredible. There's just not much to it."

If Manziel is convicted of misdemeanor assault, he will face up to one year in prison and a $4,000 fine.
