Jon Jones Arrested: Latest Details, Mug Shot and Comments on UFC Star

One day after revealing he was cited for multiple traffic violations, UFC superstar Jon Jones was arrested Tuesday for violating his probation.

He appeared Thursday before a judge, who recommended he complete a driver education course and anger management classes, reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN (via Jesse Holland of MMA Mania). Although Jones was handed 60 hours of community service, he will be able to face Daniel Cormier at UFC 197 on April 23.

According to TMZ Sports, Jones turned himself in to New Mexico police after a judge issued an arrest warrant for drag racing last week. He was officially released from custody on Thursday, per Marc Raimondi of SB Nation.

Okamoto confirmed TMZ's report, noting Jones was booked Tuesday morning by probation officers in Albuquerque.

The UFC released a statement Tuesday:

UFC is aware that Jon Jones turned himself into the Albuquerque Police Department this morning for a potential probation violation stemming from a traffic stop last week.

UFC has been in touch with Jones' legal team and will have no further comment until the organization has had appropriate time to gather necessary information.

TMZ Sports also released a photo of Jones' mug shot following his arrest:

During an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting, Jones said he was pulled over by police several days prior, cited for drag racing and issued five separate tickets (via Jeremy Botter of FloSports).

Jones told Helwani he's "going to fight it" regarding the tickets (via Eric Jackman of The MMA Hour). The former light heavyweight champion added he "said things to the officer he now regrets," per Luke Thomas of MMA Fighting.

This is just the latest in a string of legal problems for Jones, who has not fought for the UFC since defeating Cormier at UFC 182 in January 2015. He was involved in a hit-and-run incident in Albuquerque last year and sentenced to 18 months of probation after pleading guilty.

Jones also failed a pre-fight drug test prior to his bout with Cormier after testing positive for cocaine and entered rehab. He was indefinitely suspended by the UFC, a punishment that lasted six months before he was officially reinstated last October.

The 28-year-old Jones will now hope to focus on facing Cormier next month in a rematch that is eagerly anticipated by UFC fans.
