Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was delighted as he saw his side beat Manchester City 3-0 at Anfield on Wednesday and gave an unorthodox take on the memorable victory.

The German had an extra reason to celebrate as his old rivals Bayern Munich suffered a shock home defeat to Mainz on the same night, prompting laughter at the Bavarians' expense, per Match of the Day on Facebook:

Indeed, as Andy Kelly of the Liverpool Echo noted, the German had a good night:

Bayern play his former side on Saturday in a key clash in the Bundesliga title race, which could be blown wide open if Dortmund can win.

Per Dan Gibson of the Express, Klopp revelled in Liverpool's victory as they avenged Sunday's cup final defeat to City in style:

"It was the best half for sure of all our home games. The best word I could say that would describe this was... boom! Wow. What was this? It was really good to be honest. It showed us what these boys are capable of and it was a really good performance."

In a typically jovial mood, the affable manager also revealed he shared a laugh when Kolo Toure denied Sergio Aguero a run on goal with a perfect tackle. According to Luke Gardener of the Daily Star, he said:

To be honest, the moment of the day was the challenge of Kolo Toure in the 27th spring with Sergio Aguero.

I can’t believe [it]. I thought "Okay, it’s Aguero, we made a mistake so it's a goal, or maybe Simon [Mignolet| has to make a world-class save."

But then came Kolo and it was really not too bad!

As Squawka Football revealed, Klopp continued Liverpool's fine run of form against City at Anfield, while Bleacher Report UK had their own unique take on the result:

Klopp is hoping his side can continue to show their good form for the remainder of the season. Per Gibson, he said:

We lost the final on Sunday and that's the truth so we should have showed that we were more greedy today for these three points. But especially our with situation in the Premier League we cannot waste time any more.

We have to climb now and get points as we have so many important games in the next few weeks and only two tournaments left, but they're the most important tournaments.

From the first to the last it was a really good performance from my side.

The win takes the Reds just six points behind City in fourth. Although a UEFA Champions League place would be difficult to achieve, with Manchester United, West Ham United and Stoke City also ahead of Liverpool, Kelly is optimistic they can finish on a high:

Liverpool play Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in their next outing. The Eagles haven't won in the Premier League since December 19—12 matches ago—so the Reds have an excellent chance of winning three successive league games for the first time this season, particularly if they can put in a repeat performance from Wednesday.
