The New York Knicks announced Monday that Carmelo Anthony will miss the team's game against the Orlando Magic with a sore left knee.

This is another setback for Anthony, who dealt with knee soreness last season. In 2014-15, he played only 40 games before undergoing season-ending knee surgery. Anthony hasn't played 82 games since his rookie campaign in 2003-04.

It's also another blow for the Knicks, who are 25-38 and 5.5 games back of the Detroit Pistons for the eighth playoff seed in the Eastern Conference.

Anthony is averaging 23.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game in 2016-17.

New York cannot expect to replicate Anthony's production on the court, but it does have some players who can help shoulder the load.

Derrick Rose was the league MVP in 2010-11, Kristaps Porzingis is a matchup nightmare and Courtney Lee can stretch the floor with his outside shooting. Lance Thomas can also fill in for Anthony as a secondary scorer at small forward.

Still, Anthony is the team's most dangerous scorer, so the Knicks will be shorthanded Monday against the Magic.
