Robinho Reportedly Wants Premier League Return

Monday, Feb. 1

According to the Sun's Dave Fraser, a representative of free agent Robinho has been on the phone with Swansea and Leicester, who are both looking for additional attacking talent.

Football writer Kristian Sturt added to the rumour, citing reports that said Robinho's "agent" has contacted every single Premier League club to make them aware of his client's availability.

The 32-year-old spent the last few months with Guangzhou Evergrande, winning the Chinese Super League along the way. His contract has expired, however, and he's free to sign a deal with the team of his choosing.

Robinho joined Manchester City from Real Madrid in 2008, but after a promising first season with the Citizens, his form took a turn for the worse in his second campaign. The talented dribbler struggled with injuries and quickly fell down the pecking order, and by January of 2010, he had returned to Brazil on loan.

He failed to make the grade during a subsequent spell with AC Milan and returned to Santos on loan in 2014, where he rediscovered some of his old magic. Robinho played for Brazil during the 2015 Copa America and showed enough to convince Guangzhou to sign him after the tournament.

As a free agent, the Brazilian could be a solid value addition on the final day of the transfer window, although one has to wonder how much the veteran still has left in the tank. His first stint in England was a major disappointment, but expectations would be lower this time around. Perhaps he could yet convince British fans of his quality.
