Referee Fails to Flip Coin During Overtime Coin Toss, Needs Do-Over

Thomas Duffy

"It didn’t flip."

Huh?

After Aaron Rodgers momentarily saved the day for the Green Bay Packers with a 41-yard Hail Mary as time expired against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday night at University of Phoenix Stadium, overtime got off on a weird note.

The referee tossed the coin into the air, but it didn’t rotate. Rodgers and Co. immediately called him on it, and a do-over ensued.

Arizona won the toss and promptly won the game, 26-20, on a Larry Fitzgerald touchdown.
