UEFA Charges Dynamo Kiev with Racist Behaviour Following Chelsea Match

Dynamo Kiev have been charged by UEFA after their fans were reported to have caused disturbances and displayed racist behaviour during Tuesday's Champions League tie against Chelsea.

According to BBC Sport, European football's governing body has launched disciplinary proceedings against the Ukrainian club, with the Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body scheduled to announce its verdict on Tuesday, October 27.

UEFA is yet to divulge the specifics of the investigation, but the Guardian this week posted footage of four black Dynamo supporters being hounded out of their seats by a violent group of fellow fans. The Press Association (for the Daily Mail) published the video:

The footage, which is presumed to have had some influence in instigating the body's action against Dynamo, was obtained by anti-discrimination group Fare and sent to UEFA.

It isn't the first time this year Dynamo have been charged with racist behaviour; they were ordered to close part of their stadium because of such conduct following a Europa League clash with Everton, per the Press Association (h/t the Guardian).

Euro 2012 co-hosts Ukraine were put under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons ahead of the continental competition three years ago.

At the time, ex-England international Sol Campbell warned fans to "stay at home" instead of travelling to the country, telling the BBC's Panorama (via the Guardian's Luke Harding): "Stay at home, watch it on TV. Don't even risk [going]...because you could end up coming back in a coffin."
