Manchester United confirmed the deadline-day signing of AS Monaco forward Anthony Martial on Tuesday.
Martial will reportedly set United back €60 million (£44.1 million) plus €20 million (£14.7 million) in bonuses, according to RMC (h/t Get French Football). Sky Sports reported the Red Devils will initially pay at least £36 million for his services.
Martial was granted leave from the French football squad by the French Football Federation (h/t GFF) on Monday to complete the switch.
It's clear United need a striker. The Red Devils have managed just three goals in four Premier League matches and struggled during a 2-1 defeat to Swansea City on Sunday.
Afterward, Gary Neville, a Sky Sports Super Sunday analyst and ex-United defender, implored his former club to recruit a new forward: "They've got one striker. I'm not classing [Marouane] Fellaini as a striker. They've got one striker in Wayne Rooney."
It seems manager Louis van Gaal already had his plans in place.
