Golfer John Daly collapsed Saturday after playing a round at Deerfield Golf Club in Canton, Mississippi, and was transported to Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, according to Yahoo Sports' Pat Forde. He was discharged from the hospital Sunday and "is recovering from a collapsed lung," according to his manager, per Rex Hoggard of GolfChannel.com.

Daly's Manager Releases Statement; Brannan Discusses Observations from the Course

"Daly has fought a lingering rib injury since 2007, which recently has been causing severe pain and has affected his breathing," Daly's manager Bud Martin said in a statement, per Hoggard.

Saturday, Deerfield club pro Leigh Brannan said, per David Brandt of the Associated Press: "He was struggling pretty badly right before he collapsed. But we're all hoping it's nothing serious and that he was just a little dehydrated. He was even telling [friend Billy Allen] he still wants to play [Sunday]."

Brannan added, per Brandt, that Daly was having some trouble with the 90-degree heat and had difficulty breathing before going to the hospital.

The 49-year-old Daly hasn't participated in a PGA event since missing the cut at the PGA Championship two weeks ago. Daly shot a first-round 73 and second-round 82.

Since the start of 2015, Daly has appeared in nine events and missed the cut all but once—at the Puerto Rico Open in March.
