James Harden is really embracing the celebrity status that comes along with being one of the best players in basketball.
The Houston Rockets shooting guard turned 26 on Wednesday, and he celebrated alongside his girlfriend, Khloe Kardashian, and her family.
Kim Kardashian posted a picture of her husband, Kanye West, and mother, Kris Jenner, snoozing on the couch, but Harden was still partying hard.
Another shot featured Harden shielded by the Kardashian sisters:
Apparently the party got cracking really early Wednesday morning, and the good folks of Los Angeles were involved whether they liked it or not. Forget sleep, guys. It's Harden's birthday!
Per TMZ, Khloe set off a 15-minute firework show once the clock struck midnight:
Khloe Kardashian and James Harden threw their own personal 4th of July with a GIANT fireworks display that woke up thousands of residents -- and city officials are scrambling to find out HOW it got approved.
The thunderous fireworks show -- visible from multiple towns along the oceanfront -- went on for 15 minutes at the stroke of midnight. TMZ has learned the whole thing was a yacht party for Harden's 26th birthday, and it was all on the up and up.
Not everyone was amused. Here’s what citizens and a councilman told Larry Altman of the Daily Breeze:
-
“It was enough to wake us up and certainly to concern me that something else crazy was going on,” said Rancho Palos Verdes resident Juan Rodriguez. “I did have a thought for a moment of calling the police.”
-
“I heard from folks from all over the place,” Los Angeles City Councilman Mike Bonin said. “Folks were rousted from a good night’s sleep, school kids were crying in the night, dogs were barking, animals were going nuts. This was an unexpected, unanticipated, scary-as-hell, middle-of-the-night series of explosions.”
-
“Almost sounded like someone moving furniture about in my home or something being pounded on,” Hermosa Beach resident Ron Felsing said. “I opened the north-facing back door. Could hear it—almost like a constant fireworks in the distance.”
-
“I think my reaction was, ‘Oh God, it’s the Kardashians,’ ” Bonin said. “I really don’t care who did this. I don’t care if it was a celebrity or a non-celebrity...or the royal family. They should not be allowing midnight fire shows near residential neighborhoods. It’s crazy, it’s stupid, it’s rude.”
It’s official, everyone. The Hardashian age—loud and bearded as it may be—is upon us.
