The Little League World Series regional tournaments are all underway, with a slew of teams in action Monday looking for the opportunity to advance to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, in less than two weeks.

The Mechanicsville National Little League team kept its season alive Monday, knocking off the team from Tennessee, 10-6. Tyler Warren was the hero, finishing with three hits—including a home run—and four RBI in the win.
“It’s exciting enough to know that we will be playing on ESPN, but really it will be just another game that we have to win to get to the World Series," Warren told John Kosater of the Richmond Times-Dispatch. “We feel like we are gaining confidence in the batting cage, and it is showing up in the games. Right now we are just a very confident team.”
The team from Virginia now awaits the loser of the South Carolina-Florida game Tuesday. If it wins that contest, it will be just one win away from a trip to Williamsport.
Kentucky and Wisconsin are set to face off Thursday in the Great Lakes Regional after winning their respective contests Monday. That put both teams in the winner's bracket of the double-elimination tournament and gave each team two vital days off.
Bowling Green of Kentucky was led by Maddox Burr, who ripped a three-run triple, and Eli Burwash, who struck out 15 batters in the win.
The Maine-Endwell Little League team out of New York opened its regional tournament with a 9-6 win over Delaware, led by Michael Smith, who belted a two-run home run in a six-run fourth inning.
In the penultimate game from Monday's slate, Arkansas' Pine Bluff Western Little League team erupted for six runs in the bottom of the fifth to rally past Texas' McAllister Park Little League by a score of 9-7.
For all of the teams in action Monday, the ultimate goal is a place in Williamsport for the Little League World Series, set to be played from August 20 to August 30. The international teams from Chinese Taipei, Australia, the Dominican Republic, Uganda, Japan, Venezuela and Mexico have already booked places in the tournament.
The representative from Canada is still being contested, meanwhile. All the teams are competing for the chance to be this year's South Korea, which beat Chicago, 8-4, in last year's Little League World Series final.
