Suisham Placed on IR; Steelers Sign New Kicker
Wednesday, Aug. 12
Burt Lauten of Steelers PR confirmed Suisham was placed on the Reserved/Injured List.
"Shaun Suisham will have surgery on his left knee this week and the Steelers will go shopping for another kicker," Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported on Aug. 10.
The Steelers ultimately would sign Garrett Hartley to replace Suisham, confirmed his agent Erik Burkhardt.
After the Vikings' 14-3 win, Suisham emerged from the locker room on crutches, according to Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Suisham tied for fifth in the NFL in field goal accuracy last season and has been reliable during his four years with the Steelers. Pittsburgh could deputize starting punter Brad Wing or backup Jordan Berry as the interim replacement until a better solution emerges.
