Franck Ribery will have to recover from an ankle injury during the summer, as the Bayern Munich star's foot was immobilised after other treatments failed to deliver the desired effects.

Ribery's Foot Immobilised

Bayern Munich confirmed Ribery's foot will be immobilised as it has become clear conservative therapies aren't doing the trick. The club shared the news on Friday via Twitter:

In a statement on Bayern's official website, sporting director Matthias Sammer confirmed the club will stand with Ribery, who faced a multitude of injuries in 2014-15 and failed to make the desired impact on the pitch. Sammer said: "We will be fully supporting Franck in every aspect of the healing process and hope he will soon be back on the field of play.“

As shared by Fox Soccer's Thomas Hautmann, the Bavarians are rumoured to be looking for another winger, and given Ribery's injury history, that shouldn't come as a surprise:

Fellow winger Arjen Robben has also faced multiple injuries during his career, and both were in and out of the starting XI throughout the 2014-15 campaign. Ribery played his last match in March, and without the France international in the side to provide a creative spark, Bayern were knocked out of the Champions League by eventual winners Barcelona.

Manager Pep Guardiola relies heavily on his creative wide men, and following the news Ribery will miss even more time as his ankle isn't healing properly, it's a foregone conclusion that the Bavarians will invest in a star winger.
