Hibbert Active vs. Cavaliers

Wednesday, Feb. 10

Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News reported Hibbert will start Wednesday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Hibbert a Solid Veteran Contributor for Lakers

This offseason the Indiana Pacers traded Hibbert, 29, to the Lakers in exchange for a second-round pick. The two-time All-Star averaged 10.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 25.3 minutes per game last season. The Pacers disappointed on the whole, finishing 38-44 and missing the postseason, and Hibbert's departure was hardly surprising.

Hibbert entered Saturday averaging 6.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks this season.

With the Lakers, he joined a team in a transition phase, stuck between the past of talented superstar Kobe Bryant as he winds down his career and the future of youngsters like D'Angelo Russell and Julius Randle. Hibbert, then, was one of the veterans brought aboard to bridge the two generations and help the Lakers improve upon last season's dismal 21-61 record.
