A sigh of relief has dawned over millions of faithful New England Patriots fans as the Spygate fiasco has potentially come to a close.

The final verdict heard across the world and now here, on Bleacher Report, has shown that nothing new has been discovered about the illegal taping allegations placed upon the Patriots during the early 2007-2008 season.

Matt Walsh, former Patriots video assistant turned golf pro in Hawaii, took a hiatus when these allegations dropped on NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s desk, but now, after months of blabbering and gossip from ESPN, ABC, and FOX, the newest development has put a unique spin on the conclusion of Spygate. 

Walsh, who met with Goodell this past Tuesday, was expected to reveal new information to investigators. His attitude towards the Patriots has now turned to the offensive.

According to his representatives, Walsh is not attempting to gain money from this situation and he was not allowed to speak to the media until the tapes were released.

The tapes, which were released Tuesday evening after the meeting, did not show any significant information that could lead to further investigation.

Overall, the information presented indicates that Spygate may be coming to a close—to the excitement of the Patriots players and staff.

The impact of this long investigation could yield negatives towards the Patriots future as a dominant franchise.

With Spygate closing and the draft in the past, the saying “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” has direct meaning to the Patriots’ future.

Jerod Mayo, the first round pick for the Patriots from Tennessee, shows some great potential for restructuring the Patriots’ defensive set. At six-foot one inch and 242 pounds, Mayo will be one of the larger guys on the roster, helping to relieve the duties of Tedy Bruschi and provide rest for the aging line-backing core.

The secondary of the Patriots is also getting revamped with the loss of Asante Samuel, the team leader in interceptions last year, and the addition of some young safeties and corner backs. The obvious objective is to solidify the Patriots’ presence in the future by introducing the young talent that has the ability to learn from the veterans while they are still around.

Bill Belichick, and his traditional cut-off sleeves on his NFL equipment sweatshirt, will never be completely tainted by the actions against him regarding Spygate. The interesting quality that he possesses, and hopefully never loses, is the ability to take any adversity and turn it into pure dominance on the gridiron.

An example of this occurred in the week prior to the Patriots and Steelers game. Anthony Smith, a no-name safety for the Steelers decided to talk smack about the Patriots in an attempt to gain the upper hand. Well, did we prove him wrong or not? The Patriots dominated the Steelers, defeating them 34-13 with two of those touchdown receptions going right over Anthony Smith’s head.

It proves that actions speak louder than words.

The domination did conclude for the Patriots when they lost against the New York Giants in the Super Bowl.

It was a tough loss and a terrible end to a great season. Seeing Brady and Moss connect for that record breaking touchdown was a moment of my life that I will never forget.

Let me tell you, having an autographed Brady portrait just adds to it.

I know that NFL fans everywhere are going to say “the Patriots suck” or “Peyton Manning is the best quarterback ever”. It’s cool with me that you support your team, but you have to look at the facts.

The Patriots have won 3 Super Bowls in recent years with Tom Brady as the quarterback. Peyton Manning and Eli Manning both have just one. They’re definitely good, but I would have to say that until they get three or more, they are not as good as Brady.

Another thing, any haters out there need to keep stats out of this argument. Nobody likes to hear people blabber about meaningless stats.

STATS DON’T MATTER WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO THE WIRE!

I don’t care if Peyton Manning broke the record for touchdown passes a few seasons ago because he didn’t win the Super Bowl.

Eli Manning wasn’t the most consistent quarterback in the NFL, but he came back and was clutch when it counted. It proves that on any given Sunday, a true hero can show himself.

Congratulations again goes to the New York Giants on an amazing season, but a word of advice, next time we visit the gridiron, the Patriots will prevail because we never lose two games in a row against the same team.

Just remember our history: three recent Super Bowl wins, a 16-0 regular season, and Bill Belichick. From what I see, we are the most dominant team in recent history and will be into the distant future.
