Football isn't the only thing the Green Bay Packers love playing.

According to The Wall Street Journal's Kevin Clark, the Packers have gotten into playing a board game called Settlers of Catan.

For those who have never played the game, players try to build settlements by acquiring resources. They are awarded points as they develop their settlements, with the first person to reach 10 points declared the winner.

Teams do different things throughout a season to stay loose and bond with each other. This Packers squad has resorted to playing the board game.

Offensive tackle David Bakhtiari was the one who introduced the game to the team. It wasn't an instant hit with his teammates, however.

"At first we're like, 'What the hell is this? Brick? Wool? What kind of game is this?'" Green Bay center Corey Linsley told Clark.

It may have seemed weird at first, but for the past two months, the players have been obsessed with the game.

"We are completely addicted to it, we play it whenever we can," Packers tight end Justin Perillo said.

The players get pretty invested in the game. According to Green Bay backup quarterback Matt Flynn, the game can even cut the team's victory celebration short.

"I was just trying to play some music—some Pearl Jam—and [Bakhtiari] wouldn't let me," Flynn told Clark. "He wanted to hear the players talk and strategize. He was very serious. They take it to a different level."

Green Bay isn't exactly known for being a party city, so Packers players have found a way to spend their time away from the field and grow closer together.

Thankfully for the coaches and fans, the players have been able to focus on football when necessary. They're set to take on the Seattle Seahawks for the NFC Championship on Sunday. The Kansas City Royals weren't as lucky last year, as an iPad game nearly derailed their magical season.

While many spend their free time on their phones, laptops or video game consoles, the Packers have turned a board game into a bonding experience.
