Rajon Rondo will get a chance to experience the other side of the microphone when he contributes color commentary during the Boston Celtics' March 31 game against the Chicago Bulls. 

Few NBA stars have a better understanding of the games X's and O's, so Rondo's thoughts should be illuminating. At the very least, he'll offer a fresh perspective on what's working (and, more notably, not working) for the C's this season. 

Rondo will have the night off because it's the second game of a back-to-back. President of basketball operations Danny Ainge indicated earlier this March that his star point guard probably wouldn't play in both games of back-to-backs for the remainder of the season.

Rondo isn't the only Celtics personality scheduled for guest appearances, according to The Boston Globe's Chad Finn:

Celtics vice president of basketball operations Danny Ainge and former Celtic Chris Herren will serve as color analysts on CSNNE telecasts next month. Ainge and Herren will join Gorman for away games against the Hawks (April 9) and Sixers (April 14). Herren will be the sole analyst when the Celtics travel to face the Cavaliers April 12.

Rondo returned to action midway through January after partially tearing his ACL during the 2012-13 campaign. It took him almost a full year from his February surgery to make his 2013-14 debut.

So far, the 28-year-old is averaging 11.4 points and 9.2 assists per game, picking up where he left off, albeit on a slightly inconsistent basis. As the Celtics look to rebuild, trade rumors continued to swirl around Rondo through this February's deadline.

For now, though, he remains a Celtic—and the highest-profile Celtic at that. A little extra TV exposure certainly won't hurt.
