Polish Soccer Fans Set Off Fires in Stands to Protest UEFA Punishment

Tristan Thornburgh

Polish champions Legia Warsaw were recently punished by UEFA for the racist behavior of their fans during a match against The New Saints last month. The team was fined and the hangout spot for their most hardcore fans was closed off for their Champions League playoff against Steaua Bucharest.

Well, the fans fought back by gathering in one section of the stadium to create this flaming protest:

The banner held up reads “Ultra Extreme Fanatical Atmosphere” before the flames start, just in case there was any confusion as to who this was intended for. All of this seems like an impressive spectacle until you remember what they're protesting.
