The Chicago Blackhawks are in the middle of a very impressive streak. Not only have they made history walking away with at least a point in 22 straight games to start the season, they have the second-longest streak of all time.

With their victory Sunday over the rival Detroit Red Wings, the Hawks have tied the 1977-78 Montreal Canadiens at 28 straight games with a point. That Canadiens team went on to win the Stanley Cup.

In fact, everyone the Hawks have passed in the history books seems to have ended their season hoisting the cup. That is except for the record-holding Philadelphia Flyers who lost their first game of the season and then ran off 35 straight games with a point. That team lost in the Stanley Cup Final.

While this streak is nice, it is nothing without the prize at the end. It is the difference between history and being a piece of trivia. With that being said, it is clear this team has what it takes to go down as one of the best teams in history.

Many questioned general manager Stan Bowman when he had to dismantle the 2010 championship team. Fans were upset seeing so many players leave, particularly goaltender Antti Niemi. However, just three years later, the Hawks are right back where they belong and have been able to keep all their stars. 

Many never thought Patrick Kane would live up to expectations and said maybe Bowman should trade him. This season he is fifth in the league with 26 points and is building a strong case to be the first American-born league MVP.

Captain Jonathan Toews is a born leader and doesn't know how to fail. While Kane is in the spotlight, Toews quietly does his job and has 18 points on the year.

In the last 10 seasons, there have been nine different teams that have hoisted the cup. The Red Wings won it in 2002 and then again six years later in 2008. The two young stars for the Hawks are chasing their second Stanley Cup championship and they are both only 24 years old. If the Hawks hoist the cup again this season, the talk of a dynasty might start.

When you combine all these things: the win streak, young stars, the town and the ultimate goal of hoisting the cup again, you start to talk about something very special. The Chicago Blackhawks have the potential to make people forget about the last decade and make them remember how things were before.

In the past 30 years there have only been 15 teams to hoist the cup. While that may seem like a lot, but when you look at the number you realize most of those teams won in the last decade. Nine of those 15 teams have hoisted the cup in the last decade, with only the Red Wings winning in twice.

In the 20 years before that, only three teams won it just once. Over the last 30 years, the Canadiens, Penguins, Avs, Wings, Islanders and Oilers won it multiple times. Could the Hawks flip things back to the way they were?

People will always remember the 2010 team, because they stopped the drought, but 20 years from now it might be the 2013 team that everyone looks to as the team that started the dynasty.
