Joel Embiid to Make College Decision Tuesday, Kansas with Great Chance

Joel Embiid, a seven-foot center from Gainesville, Fla., will announce his college decision Tuesday, according to Evan Daniels of Scout.com.

Embiid will pick between Florida, Texas and Kansas. He also holds offers from Louisville, Ohio State, Kansas State, Marquette and SMU.

Daniels later said via Twitter that he thought Kansas had the best shot at nabbing the Cameroon native.

Kansas has been recruiting Embiid hard over the past couple of months. He received an offer from the Jayhawks in September and made a visit early last month.

Kansas coaches also visited Embiid at his high school last week.

Embiid is considered the ninth-best center and the 78th-best player in the 2013 class by 247Sports.com.

Justin Harden, Embiid's head coach at The Rock School in Gainesville, told me of his big man:

Joel is a solid mixture of skill and toughness at the big forward/center position. He has good post skills—posting, shooting, passing, shot blocking/changing—and above-average mid-range skills—can put it on the deck, shot fakes, shot-making ability. He has a legit opportunity to be an NBA player one day. With productive weight training and strength development, and a steady dedication to skill development and learning the game, he could be an all-conference player, player of the year and possibly an NBA player.

The Jayhawks already have four very talented commits for the 2013 class. Kansas has two 5-star small forwards with Wayne Selden and Brannen Greene and two solid guards with Conner Frankamp and Frank Mason.

Kansas currently has the fourth-best recruiting class for 2013 according to Scout.com.

Embiid would have a lot of opportunity to play for the Jayhawks next season. With his size and athleticism any Division I school would be happy to have him on their team.

Embiid plans to sign his letter of intent Thursday in a press conference at the Rock School.
