This is going to be a serious bleaux.

Les Miles hasn't given a specific reason, but he insinuated that the Honey Badger violated team rules for the second time and said that Tyrann Mathieu was dismissed from the team. He was suspended last year for drug use.

Update at 5:30pm: Sources say that Mathieu was dismissed for repeated failed drug tests, per school policy.

Here is his exact quote: 

"This is a very difficult day for our team," Miles said. "We lose a quality person, teammate and contributor to the program. However, with that being said, we have a standard that our players are held to and when that standard is not met, there are consequences.

"It's hard because we all love Tyrann. We will do what we can as coaches, teammates, and friends to get him on a path where he can have success. We are going to miss him.

There are no words to describe how much this hurts. The Honey Badger was more than the best cornerback the Tigers had. He was also the best return man the Tigers had, a Heisman finalist and the spark that could ignite an entire team.

But now, the Tigers will have to move on without him. 

Jalen Collins figures to replace him at cornerback, and star safety Eric Reid can probably cover for him a little bit, but he biggest problem will be finding somebody who can light it up in the return game. Without him, the Tigers may have never woken up against Georgia in last year's SEC Championship Game, and very well may have lost.

Rumors have already begun swirling about what the Honey Badger's next step will be. The most likely route is the one Janoris Jenkins just took: after being dismissed from Florida, he went to a lower level school (FCS school North Alabama), dominated there and became a second round draft pick. That's about the best Mathieu can hope for. The two corners match up very well in comparisons: small, remarkable cover skills and can make something happen in the return game as well.

Whatever road he takes, though, this is a huge hit for LSU.

But what's even more amazing is that Mathieu isn't the first, or second or even fifth star cornerback to get into trouble recently for using drugs instead of his brain (or drinking alcohol excessively). Coaches are left with no choice when their best players do something so stupid.

A star by the player's name means it was for physical violence and two stars means it was for theft. The record is unbelievable and speaks for itself.
