Manchester United Transfer News: Will the Red Devils Sign Ajax Wonderkid?

Dan Talintyre

Buoyed by their recent signing of Shinji Kagawa for next season, Manchester United continue to leave their mark on the transfer window by offering an £8 million bid for Ajax sensation Viktor Fischer.

According to Sport 1 and Caught Offside, the Red Devils are set to make an £8.8 million offer for the teenage midfielder, who is one of the hottest young prospects in Europe.

Fischer is yet to play a match in the Dutch Eredivisie but has shone throughout the NextGen Series, where he finished as the top goal scorer for the tournament and caught the eye of football scouts right around the world.

The tournament is considered by many to be the youth version of the UEFA Champions League and the teenager's sensational performances captured the attention of Sir Alex Ferguson, who sent several scouts to watch the youngster play.

The fee might seem like an audacious move to make considering Fischer is yet to prove himself in a first team side but with many indications that the youngster will follow a similar path to current Ajax star Christian Eriksen, it may well turn out to be worth it for United.

Ferguson has a long history of signing the best possible young talent available and Fischer could well be the latest player to join Old Trafford as a youngster.

Should United pursue Viktor Fischer?
