Kevin Owens reportedly signed a new WWE contract ahead of his WWE Championship ladder match against Cody Rhodes at Royal Rumble last weekend.
According to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, sources confirmed that KO signed a new deal with WWE that officially started at the Royal Rumble premium live event.
While terms of the deal were not disclosed, Owens may have hinted at the contract being five years in length with the following post on X:
Owens, 40, first gained acclaim on the independent scene under his real name, Kevin Steen, during the 2000s.
The Quebec, Canada, native most notably held the Ring of Honor World Championship before signing with WWE in 2014.
Owens quickly became NXT champion and later enjoyed immense success early on in his main roster run, including becoming universal champion in 2016.
He is also a three-time United States champion, two-time intercontinental champion and one-time tag team champion.
Although major singles titles have eluded Owens in recent years, he has remained a key player on the WWE roster, main eventing Night 1 of WrestleMania 38 against "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Night 1 of WrestleMania 39 when he and Sami Zayn beat The Usos for the WWE Tag Team Championships.
Back in October, Owens turned on Rhodes, setting the wheels in motion for a heated rivalry over the WWE Championship.
Rhodes defeated Owens in a match at WrestleMania that saw KO take several high-risk bumps. Zayn tended to Owens after the match, but he became a target of Owens' attack on Raw.
After Zayn lost an Elimination Chamber qualifying match to CM Punk, KO jumped Zayn and hit him with a Package Piledriver, seemingly because Zayn did not help him beat Cody at Royal Rumble.
The attack may have been a setup for a match between the longtime, real-life friends at WrestleMania 41, which would mark the second time Owens and Zayn have locked horns in a one-on-one match on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
