Buy or Sell Latest on The Rock, Why Roman Reigns Was Written off TV, More WWE Rumors

Chris Roling

Credit to WWE—the rumor mill didn't have much to say about a possible Jey Uso Royal Rumble win before it happened.

But that sure has a way of making the road to WrestleMania exciting from a rumors perspective.

That mill is working overtime with the buzz now with Elimination Chamber on the way before 'Mania. In the span of just a few days, it has unearthed gems about The Rock, huge planned matches for the likes of CM Punk and Roman Reigns and quite a bit more.

To help fans keep pace at such a chaotic point on the calendar, here's a look at the most notable buzz of all and whether fans should buy or sell each as legit.

IShowSpeed Back Soon?

The Rumor

First, some rumblings about celebrity usage. According to PW Insider (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats), WWE "adored" what went down with streamer IShowSpeed at the rumble, from his surprise entrance to the brutal nature of his elimination.

Reaction

WWE surely loves the global attention that Speed brought to the product, too. It's hard to imagine we're looking at a Logan Paul situation in terms of wrestling here, but the appearance managed to be a highlight of the night overall.

Buy or Sell?

Easy buy. In recent years, WWE has stopped leaning on part-timers and random celebrities as much, thankfully. This trend toward big-name streamers and others who will loop in younger audiences is smart—and it helps that they can go so well in the ring, even briefly.

The Rock Isn't Happy

The Rumor

It sounds like The Rock is not happy right now. According to Wrestling Observer Radio's Dave Meltzer (h/t Ortman), Rock was "livid" that word got out early about the fact he wouldn't be wrestling at 'Mania this year.

Reaction

The report also mentions that some in WWE weren't thrilled that Rock returned at Bad Blood despite knowing he couldn't go at 'Mania. That would make sense, considering his then weird retcon and closure of storylines with the likes of Cody Rhodes during Raw's debut episode on Netflix.

Buy or Sell?

Big sell. Rock is going to do what he wants, hence showing up at Bad Blood at all before changing character on Raw. He is, after all, The Rock—maybe he didn't get to control the message because of a leak, but he's going to get cheered no matter what he does.

Triple Threat at 'Mania?

The Rumor

All signs point to a CM Punk-Seth Rollins-Roman Reigns triple threat at 'Mania. A report from PW Insider (h/t Ortman) has now confirmed that things will trend in that direction.

Reaction

It was easy to think that Reigns-Punk or Reigns-Rollins would main event one of the 'Mania nights this year. Instead, WWE has seemingly regressed into its bag of tropes to simply toss all three into a trios match that has the potential to wash over solo feuds that deserve the spotlight.

Buy or Sell?

An unfortunate buy, this one. And with Jey Uso apparently main-eventing one night and Cody Rhodes the other, no matter how good the build is, it feels like this match wouldn't even get a top billing. An odd thing, given the stature of all three men, their must-see storyline feuds and potentially remaining time left as full-time Superstars.

Roman Reigns Absent?

The Rumor

WWE went out of its way after the rumble to point out that Reigns would be out "indefinitely" for now. According to PW Insider's Mike Johnson (h/t Ortman), this was simply a way to explain his absence in the coming weeks.

Reaction

Somewhat hilariously, WWE's announcement doesn't really explain anything. Meaning, fans are smart enough in 2025 to know that Reigns isn't going to be on every single show during the march to 'Mania. An injury angle seems like tradition, but it wasn't all that necessary to suffer the "injury" at the hands of Rollins.

Buy or Sell?

Buy. Fans understand this, but if Reigns were a title holder or in a prominent Bloodline story, he'd probably be around each week. WWE felt the need, however, to explain this, just in case. He'll undoubtedly be at the biggest shows while building the apparent triple threat.

Entrance Music Drama

The Rumor

The Royal Rumble pointed out something interesting to the observant fan—many of the wrestler's theme songs sound similar. Right on cue, Fightful Select (h/t Ortman) reported that some wrestlers are "frustrated" with the situation and some have even attempted to go back to old ones.

Reaction

What's interesting is that there was buzz last year about WWE potentially moving out of the agreement with Def Rebel and opening up the gates for new theme music eventually. When that is and how long it would take to implement, though, is hard to say.

Buy or Sell?

Buy. Most can watch the rumble and see the problem. The question is, what changes? And how fast can so many themes change at once? There's no easy answer, which might explain some of the delay.
