Ranking the Top 25 Players in the 2026 CFB Recruiting Class

Brad Shepard

National Signing Day came and went Wednesday with very little fanfare as only a handful of recruits worth watching came off the board.

While there were a few programs actively pursuing some of the dregs of the '25 class in the late cycle, most already were gearing up toward next year's class. That's where their attention is, and with this year's cycle in the bag, it's where yours should be, too, if you care anything about recruiting.

Tomorrow's stars are coming at you in full force, and we've already pored over film, received a crash course from all the services' early rankings and developed a top 25 of our own here at Bleacher Report.

A talented, superstar quarterback leads the way, but there are a couple of talented tackles not far behind, playmakers abounding and only a few of them have decided on a school. This is your way-too-early primer for the 2026 recruiting class.

Using film study and evaluation with a nod toward expert rankings across all services and offer sheets, here is Bleacher Report's way-too-early top-25 prospect list for the 2026 class.

25-21. Dunham to Hill

25. Rodney Dunham, EDGE

Height/Weight: 6'4", 227 pounds

City, State (School): Charlotte, North Carolina (Myers Park)

1 Thing to Know: There are a lot of athletes on this list who excel at other sports, but very few of them have what it takes to potentially play professionally in one of them. Dunham is a megastar baseball player who is ranked in the top 300 prospects according to Perfect Game. According to his 247Sports profile, he can reach 90 miles per hour pitching.

24. Darius Gray, Interior Offensive Lineman

Height/Weight: 6'3", 285 pounds

City, State (School): Richmond, Virginia (St. Christopher's School)

1 Thing to Know: Gray also is an elite basketball player, which is pretty impressive for a dude his size. According to WTVR Richmond's Lane Casadonte, the jumbo offensive lineman received his first scholarship offer in the eighth grade and was invited to camps at Virginia and Virginia Tech before he even made it to high school. He's a special interior OL everybody wants.

23. Cederian Morgan, Wide Receiver

Height/Weight: 6'4", 210 pounds

City, State (School): Alexander City, Alabama (Benjamin Russell)

1 Thing to Know: Even at this stage of his recruitment, elite pass-catcher Morgan is narrowing his list of schools to focus on 10 programs right now. His tiny hometown is in Tallapoosa County, just 40 miles away from Auburn, though, so coach Hugh Freeze's Tigers may be hard to beat. Alabama and Clemson are firmly in the mix with others, too.

22. RJ Sermons, Cornerback

Height/Weight: 6'0", 185 pounds

City, State (School): Rancho Cucamonga, California (Rancho Cucamonga)

1 Thing to Know: One of the most polished, dynamic defensive backs in the class already has given coach Lincoln Riley a huge early pledge in the '26 class. It's no surprise he's going to play for USC, though. Sermons' father, Rodney, played running back for the Trojans back in the 1990s.

21. Elbert Hill, Cornerback

Height/Weight: 5'10", 175 pounds

City, State (School): Akron, Ohio (Archbishop Hoban)

1 Thing to Know: Perhaps the best cornerback in the class, Hill has an awesome opportunity this weekend. He was selected to represent the Browns as part of Nike's 'Next Ones' program. According to Cleveland Browns writer Patrick Warren, Hill will get to go behind the scenes at Super Bowl LIX and compete in a skills challenge against 31 other players from across the country and one international athlete as part of Nike's "Next Ones" program.

20-16. Henderson to Lyons

20. Keisean Henderson, Quarterback

Height/Weight: 6'3", 185 pounds

City, State (School): Spring, Texas (Legacy the School of Sport Sciences)

1 Thing to Know: There were a lot of programs around the nation unsure about Henderson's ability as a signal-caller, though everybody wanted him as an athlete. After his dazzling performance in the Navy All-American Bowl where became the first-ever junior to win the game's MVP, plenty of teams are offering him as a quarterback. He's committed to the Houston Cougars, and coach Willie Fritz will have to fight to keep him in the fold.

19. Kodi Greene, Offensive Tackle

Height/Weight: 6'6", 280 pounds

City, State (School): Santa Ana, California (Mater Dei)

1 Thing to Know: It's no surprise that a star prospect like Greene plays for a national powerhouse like Mater Dei School, but he is probably one of the three most college-ready tackles in the class. He's already given an early pledge to Oregon, and the Ducks will be tough to beat, though others will try to sway him away.

18. Savion Hiter, Running Back

Height/Weight: 5'11", 182 pounds

City, State (School): Mineral, Virginia (Louisa County)

1 Thing to Know: Maybe the most electrifying playmaker in the class, Hiter is a special running back and a home-run hitter every time he touches the ball. There are a lot of programs in the mix for Hiter like Georgia, Tennessee and Ohio State, but it looks like Michigan holds the early lead. The way the Wolverines have churned out star runners, coach Sherrone Moore's program may be tough to beat.

17. Anthony Jones, EDGE

Height/Weight: 6'3.5", 240 pounds

City, State (School): Mobile, Alabama (St. Paul's Episcopal)

1 Thing to Know: What may look like a good, old-fashioned Alabama-Auburn battle for a Yellowhammer State star could wind up having a national feel as Clemson, Oregon, Florida and others are firmly in the mix for Jones. He is athletic enough to stand up on the second level but likely will play edge on the next level. His incredible nickname of "Tank" makes him even more imposing.

16. Ryder Lyons, Quarterback

Height/Weight: 6'2.5", 215 pounds

City, State (School): Folsom, California (Folsom)

1 Thing to Know: Lyons is Folsom High School's first star signal-caller since former Washington quarterback Jake Browning won Gatorade Player of the Year and set national records. Everybody wants Lyons, who accounted for 61 total touchdowns as a junior last year, but USC may be tough to beat. His brother, Walker, plays for the Trojans, and they lead Crystal Ball projections right now.

15-11. Bradford to Harrison

15. Blaine Bradford, Safety

Height/Weight: 6'1", 200 pounds

City, State (School): Baton Rouge, Louisiana (Catholic)

1 Thing to Know: There are a lot of programs after Bradford, who is arguably the best, hardest-hitting safety in high school football. But if he gets out of Baton Rouge, it's going to be a surprise. Kids from there normally become Bayou Bengals at hometown LSU, and his brother, Jacob, is a 4-star signee for Brian Kelly in this year's class. Thinking of an all-Bradford safety tandem is pretty neat.

14. Brandon Arrington, Athlete

Height/Weight: 6'2", 180 pounds

City, State (School): Spring Valley, California (Mount Miguel)

1 Thing to Know: Arrington could be an All-American on either side of the ball, as a wide receiver or a cornerback. He also could run track, no matter where he goes. According to 247Sports' Greg Biggins in his profile, Arrington has personal best times of 10.43-100m and 20.76-200m as a sophomore and could easily double sport in college. He won California state titles in the 100m and 200m as a junior.

13. Xavier Griffin, Linebacker

Height/Weight: 6'3", 200 pounds

City, State (School): Gainesville, Georgia (Gainesville)

1 Thing to Know: Gainesville High School has a rich tradition of producing star football players like Deshaun Watson, T.J. Jones, Chris Williamson and A.J. Johnson, all of which have played in the NFL. Griffin has that potential, and as of now, though he's basically just outside the shadow of UGA's Sanford Stadium, he's heading across the country to play for the USC Trojans.

12. John Turntine III, Interior Offensive Lineman

Height/Weight: 6'3.5", 275 pounds

City, State (School): Fort Worth, Texas (North Crowley)

1 Thing to Know: If you want a kid to pull for in this class, look no further than Turntine, who is impressive on and off the field. According to the Dallas Morning News' Greg Riddle, he's an impressive scholar. "For the longest time, John's dream was to be a neurosurgeon," former coach Eli Reinhart said.. "He is one of the best students at our school. You won't find a lot of kids that really have a vision of what they want to do outside of playing in the NFL, but John is really considering this choice in his college recruitment from a standpoint of where can this school put me in 15, 20 years."

11. Kendre Harrison, Tight End

Height/Weight: 6'7", 243 pounds

City, State (School): Reidsville, North Carolina (Reidsville)

1 Thing to Know: There may not be a more special player with limitless potential than Harrison, a two-sport phenom who is already committed to Oregon. Teams like home state North Carolina are still pushing for him, though. Harrison definitely will star on the gridiron but could play hoops, too. He already has basketball offers from Texas A&M, Wake Forest and Florida State.

10. Lamar Brown, Interior Offensive Lineman

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'4", 275 pounds

City, State (School): Baton Rouge, Louisiana (University Lab)

1 Thing to Know:

There are a lot of programs around the nation after Lamar Brown, who is the top interior lineman in the country on some services (and here). He has a rare blend of size, strength and athleticism with a projectable frame that can add more good weight.

As we've mentioned before, it's going to be tough for anybody to pull him away from the lure of the hometown LSU Tigers. Brown is the second player in our top 25 from that city, and of course, one of his upcoming summer official visits is to the Tigers right there at home.

He's also heading to Miami, Texas A&M and Florida State, so that gives you an idea of his early interests.

9. Dia Bell, Quarterback

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'2", 200 pounds

City, State (School): Fort Lauderdale, Florida (American Heritage)

1 Thing to Know:

Every college out there knows about Dia Bell, and the former Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Florida as a junior has shown out for powerhouse American Heritage so far. He's big and athletic with a live arm.

Right now, he seems locked in to play for coach Steve Sarkisian's Texas Longhorns and could be the guy Arch Manning hands over the reins to. But Bell's pedigree is actually on the hardwood more so than the gridiron.

Dudes who grew up in the 1980s and '90s probably remember watching Raja Bell lock down scorers in the NBA for the 76ers, Mavericks, Jazz, Suns, Bobcats and Warriors. He was a two-time All-Defensive Player, and he was one of the top defensive guards of his era.

The younger Bell brings that same bulldog mentality to the quarterback position and is a born leader with a huge upside.

8. Chris Henry Jr., Wide Receiver

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'5", 205 pounds

City, State (School): Santa Ana, California (Mater Dei)

1 Thing to Know:

There are several things to know about Chris Henry Jr., so buckle up. The 6'5", 205-pound pass-catcher is even ranked as the nation's top-rated receiver in some services, and he has a huge upside.

Even though he's a Cincinnati native, Henry plays with Kodi Greene at powerhouse Mater Dei School in California. Getting college attention wasn't an issue for him at all, though. Like many other dynamic receivers from the past few classes, he's going to play for the national title-winning Ohio State Buckeyes.

If Henry's name sounds familiar, it should. His father (by the same name) is a former West Virginia standout who played in the NFL for the Bengals. Henry's sister, Seini, is a basketball player for the Buckeyes, too.

It's going to be a family affair back in Ohio.

7. Tyler Atkinson, Linebacker

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'2", 205 pounds

City, State (School): Loganville, Georgia (Grayson)

1 Thing to Know:

Everybody in the country is after Tyler Atkinson, who looks on film to be one of the most complete, college-ready linebackers to come out of high school in the past three years. From film study, he looks like an instant-impact starter.

Atkinson plays for powerhouse Grayson and is a lanky, athletic second-level defender who packs a much bigger punch than his weight indicates. He's also terrific in coverage. There's a reason why 247Sports analyst Andrew Ivins compares him to Roquan Smith.

He plays all over the field and is a force of nature who shows up in every game every time the film is running. If the ball is there, Atkinson is there and doesn't take plays off. The best thing about him besides his explosive athleticism? He's a mass-producer.

In three high school seasons, he has registered 475 career tackles, 93 quarterback hurries, 79 tackles for a loss and 31.5 sacks. Atkinson can do it all.

6. Zion Elee, EDGE

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'3.5", 220 pounds

City, State (School): Baltimore, Maryland (St. Frances Academy)

1 Thing to Know:

You see tons of powerhouse programs across the country dotting this list with representatives, and joining teams like Mater Dei (California) and American Heritage (Florida) is St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, a program that churns out college players every year.

One of the best in a while is edge-rusher Zion Elee, who is a complete player at his position, already has a college-ready body and looks like he could star right now. At 6'3", 220 pounds, 247Sports compares Elee to former Penn State (and Maryland) edge Chop Robinson.

He looks more like a Kayvon Thibodeaux type here, and those long arms and elite speed will serve him well on the next level. Everybody wants Elee, but right now, he's decided to play for Mike Locksley right near his hometown at Maryland.

The Terps signed Zahir Mathis from the '25 class, so that could be a great duo for the future. But there will be plenty of overtures, especially if Maryland falters on the field.

5. Jared Curtis, Quarterback

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'4", 225 pounds

City, State (School): Nashville, Tennessee (Nashville Christian School)

1 Thing to Know:

For a while, it looked like big-time signal-caller Jared Curtis was all set to go from his Tennessee high school to play for the Georgia Bulldogs, but he decided against it and decommitted.

Now, it's a free-for-all for Curtis' signature, and the big 6'4", 225-pound quarterback could wind up being the best pure passer in the class. That's why he's got a list of suitors a mile long.

The Dawgs are still in the mix, but most of the attention for Curtis' signature right now appears to be on the Auburn Tigers and North Carolina Tar Heels. Coach Bill Belichick has gotten Curtis' attention at Chapel Hill, and he is going to give the program a deeper look.

Hugh Freeze went heavy in the portal to get Oklahoma transfer Jackson Arnold, but he isn't shying away from adding one of the best young quarterbacks in the class. It's going to be fun to watch Curtis' recruiting play out.

4. Tristen Keys, Wide Receiver

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'2", 175 pounds

City, State (School): Hattiesburg, Mississippi (Hattiesburg)

1 Thing to Know:

This is the second year in a row that the Magnolia State has produced one of the top wide receivers in the nation and, in our opinion, Tristen Keys sets the pace in this year's haul.

He has Porsche speed, elite size and can stretch the field and take the lid off defenses. The Hattiesburg, Mississippi, playmaker has his choice of schools from across the country, much the way Caleb Cunningham did last year when he committed to Alabama before flipping and signing with the home-state Ole Miss Rebels.

Coach Lane Kiffin's program is in the mix and made the top 12 for Keys, but perhaps the three teams ahead in his recruitment are Tennessee, Alabama and Texas A&M with the Vols out front.

Still, there is a long way to go for who signs Keys, and everybody is going to be putting together the best NIL package they can to get his skills in the fold.

3. Immanuel Iheanacho, Offensive Tackle

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'6.5", 345 pounds

City, State (School): Rockville, Maryland (Georgetown Preparatory School)

1 Thing to Know:

Much like John Turntine III, there are a lot of things to love about Immanuel Iheanacho on and off the field, as he preps at the prestigious Georgetown Preparatory School and has a bright future no matter what he does.

Right now, though, it looks like a pretty strong bet is he's going to be a star in college football with a high-upside NFL future.

It's not easy to carry nearly 350 pounds without looking sloppy, but, truthfully, Iheanacho doesn't even need to lose weight. He's a tall, athletic player who is a pure force and a natural road-grader. He has blindside blocker written all over him, and he looks like the perfect candidate to come in and start immediately.

The Georgia Bulldogs are a strong early favorite, but home-state Maryland, Oregon and Penn State are also way up there and aggressively pushing to get Iheanacho committed. He's a smart kid who will weigh all his options, but this is going to be a massive battle.

2. Jackson Cantwell, Offensive Tackle

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'7.5", 300 pounds

City, State (School): Nixa, Missouri (Nixa)

1 Thing to Know:

It takes a special player to be ranked higher than the massive force that is Immanuel Iheanacho, who could be a No. 1 overall type talent, but Missouri high schooler Jackson Cantwell is the most college-ready offensive lineman in the past two classes.

He is big and ultra-athletic, and he comes from a family of athletes. His mother (Teri Steer) and father (Christian Cantwell) were both Olympic throwers. His father won the silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and his mother competed in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

How's that for a pedigree?

While Cantwell still could take his time, right now, his top six (or what he called a "final" list) includes Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Missouri, Miami and Oregon. His father went to Mizzou, and coach Eli Drinkwitz has done a pretty good job keeping star prospects close to home.

Cantwell is the No. 1-ranked overall player in the 247Sports composite rankings, and there are a lot of people who think he's the best player regardless of position in the class. He's a sure-fire, right-away starter.

1. Faizon Brandon, Quarterback

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'3,5", 197 pounds

City, State (School): Greensboro, North Carolina (Grimsley)

1 Thing to Know:

The thing to know about Faizon Brandon is the 6'3", 197-pound quarterback is just a special athlete, and while he may not have the same buzz as Nico Iamaleava when he came out of high school and committed to the Vols, Brandon may be better.

He can do it all with the football, possessing stellar athleticism and a live arm. It was a huge deal with Vols coach Josh Heupel secured a commitment from Brandon over Alabama, and even though in-state North Carolina is coming after him with Bill Belichick at the helm, Brandon seems locked in.

He also is representing an NFL team (the Carolina Panthers) at Nike's "The Next Ones" showcase at the Super Bowl this weekend, which will be a fun, cool deal. Brandon won the state's Mr. Football award as a junior at Grimsley High School.

While Heupel has done a great job recruiting in Knoxville, getting Brandon in the fold this early could be massive for the Vols. He's already getting top-tier pass-catchers who want to follow him to UT. He could be a pied piper for a top-five class.
