What paths will CM Punk, John Cena and Roman Reigns embark on en route to WrestleMania 41? Credit: WWE.com

What's Next for Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Charlotte Flair, More After WWE Royal Rumble?

Royal Rumble 2025 served as a satisfying start to WWE's Road to WrestleMania 41 and gave fans a much better idea of what to expect come the two-night April extravaganza.

However, there are still far more questions than answers in regards to what's in store certain competitors in the months ahead.

For the first time in many years, there isn't a clear path for Roman Reigns en route to WrestleMania. Unless plans change, he won't be walking in as a world champion or as a challenger unless he can reign supreme in the upcoming Elimination Chamber match on March 1.

It was widely believed that he'd be on a collision course with CM Punk heading into 'Mania after they successfully teamed up in WarGames back at Survivor Series. Although a one-on-one outing could still be in the cards, it appears Seth Rollins could also be involved in some form or fashion based on their interaction at the Rumble.

Charlotte Flair will soon need to cement her choice for which championship she contends for at The Show of Shows. She has a storied history with current Women's World champion Rhea Ripley, but a first-time-ever encounter with Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women's Championship is arguably even more appealing.

Following an eventful Royal Rumble, let's look at what's next for the aforementioned Superstars and other notable names.

Roman Reigns

It would have been easy for WWE to have Roman Reigns rule the Royal Rumble a decade removed from his last Rumble triumph and work him back into world championship contention, but his loss makes him an infinitely more interesting character going forward.

Reigns was in the midst of attempting to eliminate longtime rival Seth Rollins when both were dumped over the top rope by CM Punk. Immediately afterward, Reigns and Punk argued on the outside of the ring before Rollins emphatically laid out Reigns with a Curb Stomp.

All signs point to the three of them continuing to wage war on the Road to WrestleMania, potentially culminating in a star-studded Triple Threat.

There's no reason for Reigns to be involved in a number one contender's Elimination Chamber match if he isn't going to win it. Rather, it makes more sense for him to sell the attack from Rollins for the next month or so before resurfacing in time for WrestleMania 41.

Ultimately, Rollins should be in Reigns' crosshairs once he's ready to return. A long-awaited WrestleMania bout between them would be the perfect payoff to their decade-long feud.

CM Punk

As noted, the heated altercation between CM Punk, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins at the end of the Royal Rumble reminded fans of their bad blood and seemed to plant the seeds for a possible Triple Threat.

Although that would be WrestleMania-worthy, it's difficult to imagine the three of them facing off without anything at stake. It doesn't look likely that any of them will win gold before then, either.

If Reigns vs. Rollins one-on-one is indeed the plan for the event, Punk should settle his score with Rollins in the coming weeks—if only temporarily—before shifting his focus back toward chasing championship gold by qualifying for the Elimination Chamber.

Punk and Cody Rhodes proved during their recent promo battle on Raw that they'd have tremendous chemistry if they were to collide, and WrestleMania season would be the best time for them to do so.

Punk's lingering issues with Reigns and Rollins can always be revisited at a later date. For now, it's high time he take his rightful place in the main-event of WrestleMania.

John Cena

John Cena failing to win his final Royal Rumble match on Saturday night makes his ongoing farewell tour all the more compelling ahead of WrestleMania 41.

As he established during the Rumble post-show press conference, he's already declared entry for the Elimination Chamber and intends to headline WrestleMania by winning that and advancing to 'Mania for a world championship opportunity.

Cena challenging Cody Rhodes would undoubtedly make for a marquee match, but there are more intriguing options for both Superstars. For Cena specifically, the story should be all about him wanting to win his first major pay-per-view match in seven years and not breaking his own world title record just yet.

Whoever he ultimately faces at WrestleMania can cause him to be eliminated from the Chamber and set that match up for the event. In the meantime, he's announced that he'll be off WWE TV until Elimination Chamber to finish wrapping a movie.

Cena's appearances have obviously been sporadic so far, but that shouldn't be the case for the entirety of his last run.

Jey Uso

Jey Uso was the Royal Rumble winner no one saw coming, and whether the audience agrees with the booking decision or not, he's WWE's most popular performer right now for a reason and it was wise for them to capitalize on that.

That said, it's virtually a foregone conclusion who he'll be choosing to challenge at WrestleMania 41: World Heavyweight champion Gunther.

Uso has repeatedly acknowledged his shortcomings against Gunther dating back to last year. He was again beaten by The Ring General on Saturday Night's Main Event less than two weeks ago and thus it'd only be logical for him to want one more shot at him at WrestleMania.

It's a simple story and the match may not be anything special, but the tease of Uso finally winning the big one will be enough to get fans invested. The moment alone of Uso winning that world title will be worth it.

The Uso vs. Gunther storyline shouldn't last for two-and-a-half months straight, but Uso can remain at the forefront of Raw until the Chamber event passes and make his WrestleMania challenge to Gunther official on the Feb. 3 episode.

Charlotte Flair

It should come as little surprise that Charlotte Flair wasted no time in reclaiming her throne atop WWE's women's division by winning the women's Royal Rumble and punching her ticket to WrestleMania 41 in the process.

Flair missed over a year and in-ring action and hasn't held gold since WrestleMania 39, where she lost to Rhea Ripley. Now, she has a chance to avenge that loss by choosing to challenge her for the Women's World Championship at WrestleMania 41.

The history there is well documented, but Flair vs. Tiffany Stratton is a significantly stronger and fresher match. Stratton has been on the ascent in Flair's absence and can't truly cement her spot as SmackDown's top female star without first defeating Flair.

Similar to Jey Uso, the choice should be a no-brainer, but that isn't to say WWE will give away the reveal so soon. Flair can tease targeting both women for a few weeks before settling on Stratton.

Flair has no ready-made match for Elimination Chamber and can sit that show out unless she makes her presence felt by scouting Stratton. Meanwhile, Stratton vs. Canada's own Trish Stratus would be an exciting attraction for that event.

The new-and-improved attitude of Flair will be what makes her character so fascinating to follow during such a pivotal period in her career.
