Charlotte Flair Is Back on Top Again and Takeaways from WWE Royal Rumble 2025 Results

Doc-Chris Mueller

The 2025 Royal Rumble is over, which means we have two new No. 1 contenders who will be challenging for the titles of their choice at WrestleMania 41.

Cody Rhodes was able to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship in a great match against Kevin Owens, and DIY held onto the tag titles thanks to some help from The Street Profits.

When it comes to the Rumble matches, the women's contest ended with Charlotte Flair scoring the win to earn a title shot against Rhea Ripley or Tiffany Stratton.

After a lot of the major players had been eliminated, it came down to John Cena and Jey Uso at the end of the men's Rumble.

Let's take a look at the biggest takeaways from Saturday's premium live event.

Women's Rumble Takeaways

Management Sees Potential in Lash Legend

During the women's Rumble, we had a couple of NXT entrants, such as Roxanne Perez, Stephanie Vaquer, Giulia, and Jaida Parker, but the most notable was Lash Legend.

She came in like a bulldozer and was given plenty of time to shine. Although she may not be called up right away after this, management clearly sees her as a potential star.

WWE Should Be Pushing Pure Fusion Collective

Zoey Stark, Sonya Deville and Shayna Baszler were able to work as a unit during the women's match thanks to drawing numbers that weren't far apart.

And it was a reminder of just how good this team is. Deville has become a versatile performer, Baszler has the MMA badass vibes you can't fake, and Stark has unmatched athletic ability.

This trio should regularly compete for titles, but for months, they have felt like such a non-entity that it wouldn't be surprising if some fans forgot they were a group.

WWE needs to give them a run with the tag titles so they can finally get a chance to prove themselves.

Jordynne Grace Has Arrived and Fans Are Happy

After appearing in last year's Rumble and on NXT as a member of TNA's roster, Grace finally made her debut as an official WWE Superstar to a big pop.

The powerhouse immediately made an impression by hitting a Death Valley driver on Piper Niven.

The announcers hyped her up as a huge signing and mentioned her success in TNA, which is the kind of thing you would have never heard a few years ago in WWE.

Grace is going to be a great addition to an already stacked roster.

Alexa Bliss Was Sorely Missed

We had a few returns during the women's Rumble, but nobody got a reaction as loud as Alexa Bliss. The crowd went wild and drowned out her music as she made her way to the ring with a huge smile.

She didn't appear to have any association with The Wyatt Sicks, but that may develop over time. Regardless of what happens, it's going to be fun having the former women's champion back in the mix.

Charlotte Flair Is Back and Coming for Gold

Charlotte Flair made her triumphant return as the 27th entrant in the women's Royal Rumble and won the whole thing to earn a top spot at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.

It came down to her, Nia Jax and Perez. After tossing out The Irresistible Force, she nailed The Prodigy with a running boot to knock her off the apron and claim victory.

Since she first arrived on the main roster, the Queen has been a priority for WWE, and that does not appear to have changed. After more than a year away, she is right back in the title picture.

Love her or loathe her, there is no denying the skill and star power Flair possesses. She is going to be a valuable asset for WWE until she decides it's time to move on.

The Street Profits Are Done Playing

During the tag title match between DIY and Motor City Machine Guns, it looked like the challengers were going to regain the titles until The Street Profits showed up.

Montez Ford distracted the referee so Angelo Dawkins could use a crutch as a weapon to take out MCMG and give DIY the win.

Ford and Dawkins have not been around much in recent weeks, but they appear to be back on track for title contention again soon.

Turning them heel was a smart decision. They are great babyfaces, but it's going to be fun to see what they can do as bad guys without being Bobby Lashley's sidekicks.

At the end of the segment, they posed with the title belts, which made their intention clear: They are coming for those titles, and it will be hard for anyone to stop them.

Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens Are Two of the Best in the Business

Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens fought in a brutal ladder match on Saturday that saw both men take some incredibly painful bumps, but it was the latter who suffered the most.

Not only did he come away without a title, but he was also busted wide open and put through a ladder with an Alabama Slam from the announce table.

Sami Zayn tried to help his friend recover, but he did not interfere in the action, so Rhodes was able to climb the ladder and claim his WWE title and the Winged Eagle belt.

This match may not have had as many high-flying spots as some ladder matches in the past, but that did not stop it from being an exciting performance.

Rhodes can now focus on his next threat, but Owens is not as lucky. If he is upset that Zayn did not do enough to help him, the longtime friends could reignite their rivalry soon.

The 30-person Rumble matches are the main attraction, but this bout would have been a great main event on any card.

Men's Rumble Takeaways

WWE is Setting up a Feud for Penta and Rey Mysterio

The men's Rumble began with Rey Mysterio and Penta entering as the first two competitors. After a handshake, they began showing us why they are regarded as two of the best luchadores in the business.

This felt like WWE planting the seeds for a potential feud, which would be the best decision management could make.

This is a dream match for a lot of fans, so WrestleMania would be a perfect spot for it.

IShowSpeed Was Up For the Challenge

After Akira Tozawa was taken out during his entrance by an angry Carmelo Hayes, Triple H told IShowSpeed to get to the ring and take his place.

The social media star only lasted about a minute before being eliminated, but he took some wild bumps in the process.

Not only did Bron Breakker nearly rip him in half with a Spear, but he also threw him into the waiting arms of Otis, who then tossed him over his head and onto the announce table. It was a moment built solely for comedy, and it worked.

Props to the YouTuber for taking a couple of brutal spots.

Everyone Wants a Piece of Jacob Fatu

For the past few weeks, it has felt like Jacob Fatu has been making new enemies left and right. Not only does everyone in the OG Bloodline want to take him down, but stars like Braun Strowman and Damian Priest have also felt his wrath.

During the Rumble, Breakker and Fatu had a brief moment that the crowd reacted to, and if WWE is smart, it will find a way to put them in the ring together. Both men are from wrestling families and have unique attributes as performers. It would be an epic clash.

However, the big contest teased was Fatu vs. Roman Reigns. They had a moment all to themselves while everyone else was either eliminated or down in the ring. The announcers called it a future WrestleMania main event, and they may just be right.

Dominik Mysterio Cracked the Code

For a long time, WWE wanted Dominik Mysterio to be something he wasn't, and that led to nobody taking him seriously.

In recent months, he has really embraced his comedic side, which has won him over many people. His entire role in Saturday's bout was designed to generate laughs, and most of it worked.

There's a Lot of Life Left in Roman Reigns-Seth Rollins Feud

Reigns had several notable rivals in this match, but the moment he had with Seth Rollins felt like the most significant.

The two men have been linked for their entire WWE careers, and it's just a matter of time before they are back in the ring together for a singles match.

Both men were eliminated by CM Punk, but Rollins wasn't done. He hit a Stomp on the steps that rook Reigns out before he and The Best in the World became embroiled in a brief brawl.

Joe Hendry is Future WWE Star

Joe Hendry made his first appearance in a Royal Rumble while carrying the TNA World Championship with him, and it feels like he will have the same path as Jordynne Grace.

WWE would be stupid not to sign the 36-year-old Scot once his TNA deal is up.

Hendry got a great reaction and was well-received during his run in NXT last year. He is riding high as the TNA champion, but his time in WWE will come.

Jey Uso Shocks the World

Royal Rumble WWE

Heading into the 2025 men's Royal Rumble, some of the heavy favorites to win were Cena, Reigns, Punk and Rollins.

When it came down to Cena and Jey Uso as the final two men in the ring, it felt like the veteran's path to title No. 17 was clear. He came close, but Uso pulled off the upset and knocked him out of the ring to win the match.

Even he looked surprised that he won, as did Cena, but the crowd erupted in applause for him. He has officially earned a spot in a world title match at WrestleMania.

But who will he choose?

As of now, Gunther and Rhodes are his two potential targets, and both men have a history with Uso. The Ring General recently retained against him in a fun match, and Uso's history with The American Nightmare has been well-documented for the past couple of years.

Rhodes has so many potential challengers that Uso vs. Gunther feels like the way to go. Their feud is more recent, so it can continue through WrestleMania without any hiccups.

Although this year's Rumble was light on surprises, the outcome of the main event was definitely shocking for many WWE fans.
