WWE NXT Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction and Highlights from January 28

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of WWE NXT on January 28.

The main roster is preparing for the Royal Rumble this weekend, but NXT is also setting up for its own big event with Vengeance Day coming up on February 15.

Oba Femi appeared on The Grayson Waller Effect this week, but the show also had the usual array of in-ring action.

Here's a look at what was advertised for Tuesday's show:

Let's take a look at everything that happened on this week's episode of NXT.

Giulia and Bayley vs. Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez

NXT WWE

The show kicked off with Giulia and Bayley taking on Jade and Perez in a tag team match.

Cora and Roxanne tried to get an early advantage but were driven out of the ring to regroup.

Perez and Giulia had a nice exchange of near-falls once they were the legal women in the ring and got things going. Bayley tagged in first, and The Prodigy immediately tagged out to avoid dealing with her.

This match lasted through a break into the next segment and saw all four women take some risks and put in a lot of good work.

Bayley was especially impressive in her role as the ring general here, but Jade and Perez may have stolen the show with their high-risk antics.

Bayley and Giulia ended up scoring the win after The Role Model hit a flying elbow drop.

Result: Bayley and Giulia defeated Jade and Perez

Grade: B+

Notable Moment

Trick Williams vs. Wes Lee

NXT WWE

Waller and Theory interviewed Femi, but it felt like the main reason for the segment was for them to insult the NXT champion. They said they weren't convinced he had main roster potential.

Williams eventually showed up and had a confrontation with Femi, but it turned into them taking out Theory and Waller together. Femi then picked up Trick and powerbombed him to end the segment standing tall.

After the break, a battered Williams had to take on a fresh Lee. He said he was able to continue but was immediately taken off his feet by a running dropkick.

Williams took a long time to regain his composure and once he was back up, he slapped the taste out of Lee's mouth to send him flying.

After another break, the former NXT champion began to build up a head of steam. He hit a few big power moves on his smaller opponent before Lee's friend at ringside pulled him out of the ring.

Williams ended up getting disqualified for shoving the ref so he could continue his beatdown.

The match itself was a lot of fun, but the way it ended was less than ideal. This will obviously lead to a rematch at some point, but it feels like WWE relies on DQs to extend feuds a little too often sometimes.

Result: Lee won by disqualification

Notable Moments and Observations

Fallon Henley vs. Shotzi (Women's North American Championship)

WWE NXT

Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley accompanied Shotzi to the ring for her North American title match against Henley, who had Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyx with her.

It didn't take long for Shotzi to start taking risks with moves like a top rope hurricanrana and a senton from the top turnbuckle to the floor.

Dolin and Paxley drove the rest of Fatal Influence away after a short brawl, but that left Shotzi exposed and she ended up having her knee smashed against the ring post.

Henley took the fight to her during the break and focused heavily on the injured knee. Shotzi began to make a comeback and appeared to work past the injury, but Henley regained the upper hand and used a stretch muffler submission to inflict some damage.

This was a hard-hitting, high-energy match with a handful of great spots. Both competitors made sure to make each other look good while also making themselves look like tough competitors.

Henley hit her finisher to pick up the win and retain her title in a fun encounter. Stephanie Vaquer showed up to confront Henley as the announcers confirmed they would do battle at Vengeance Day.

Result: Henley defeated Shotzi

Grade: B+

Notable Moments and Observations

Ethan Page vs. Cedric Alexander

Ethan Page took on Cedric Alexander in a singles bout this week. All Ego won their first encounter in December, which can be seen in the video above.

Alexander wanted some revenge after Page went overboard during their past encounter, so he came out of the gate hot and beat All Ego down in the corner.

Page went after Alexander's injured hand to gain a little ground, but it didn't help much until he slammed his rival's hand into the ring post. During the picture-in-picture position, All Ego took control as he continued to focus on his bandaged hand.

This was a good performance from both men, but it ended the same way as their last encounter. Page had his hand raised and Alexander suffered another post-match beatdown.

Je'Von Evans ran to the ring and made the save with a huge dive over the top rope.

Result: Page defeated Alexander

Notable Moments and Observations

Bianca Belair and Naomi vs. Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend (Women's Tag Titles)

NXT WWE

This week's main event saw the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship being defended when Belair and Naomi put their belts on the line against Jackson and Legend.

These teams have a lot in common. Belair and Jackson are both powerhouse performers while Jackson and Naomi are no strangers to taking big risks.

This bout had a brisk pace and a lot of physicality. While it definitely had some moments that could have looked better, the vast majority of what we saw was executed well.

Belair has the experience advantage, but Legend may just have her outmatched in the power department. It was fun every time they got to interact in the contest.

Legend and Jackson hit their finisher, but The EST of WWE broke up the pin at the last second. A few moments later, Naomi assisted Belair with putting Jackson down for the pin.

This was an entertaining main event and another great example of how the women's tag team division can be good if WWE puts some effort into it.

Result: Belair and Naomi defeated Jackson and Legend

Grade: B+

Notable Moments and Observations

The Final Word

This week's NXT went heavy with action from the women's division and it paid off. Page vs. Alexander and Williams vs. Lee were both enjoyable matches, too.

The night was bookended by two fantastic displays of women's tag team wrestling. Belair and Naomi retained in a fun main event, but Giulia and Bayley's bout against Jade and Perez was more exciting to watch because the outcome wasn't quite as obvious.

In the middle, we had Shotzi taking the kinds of risks she is known for in an unsuccessful attempt to win the NXT Women's North American Championship.

The NXT women's division is often cited as one of the best in all of pro wrestling, and while a lot of its talents are still on the green side, it has more than enough talented performers to keep every week interesting.

Vaquer getting a shot at the North American title is going to lead to a great match with Henley, who has proved herself to be a competent and skilled performer over the past few years.
