WWE Raw, SmackDown Trade Reaction, Give Alexa Bliss What She Wants, More Quick Takes

WWE opening a "transfer window" between Raw, SmackDown and NXT was far more exciting in theory when it was initially announced late last year than it has been in execution.

In addition to only a handful of names having switched shows so far, the rules of WWE's Brand Split have hardly been adhered to in recent months, making every move less meaningful. Despite that, several stars should ultimately benefit from their change of scenery.

Alexa Bliss won't be among those popping up in the immediate future, per PWInsider Elite. Her uncertain contractual status is reportedly the reason behind her long-awaited return to television being delayed indefinitely and it's unknown when it's expected to be resolved.

The Goddess last appeared two years ago at the Royal Rumble in a losing effort against Bianca Belair. If and when she does resurface, she'll be a valuable asset to either women's division, which is why it's all the more imperative WWE gives her what she wants.

This installment of Quick Takes will delve into how Bliss can be utilized in today's WWE, Kevin Owens' WrestleMania 41 opponent, All Elite Wrestling's greatest unexplored feud, and more.

Buying or Selling on Latest WWE's Transfer Window Trades

Buys

Few WWE Superstars switched shows during the first month of the transfer window, and no one has been called up from NXT to either Raw or SmackDown.

However, WWE has announced a number of new trades within the last week that might make a difference in the long term.

Fresh off the culmination of his long-running rivalry with Finn Bálor, Damian Priest was officially transferred to SmackDown on Friday night and got off to a strong start with a win over Carmelo Hayes.

There was little left for The Archer of Infamy to do on Raw, where he had spent his entire main roster run until now.

Being away from The Judgment Day and Gunther will give him a fresh batch of opponents to work with and, ideally, ensure he stays at the main event level.

Bayley will also be better off following her shift to Raw. Although she failed to regain the WWE Women's Championship from Tiffany Stratton, she can eventually enter Women's World Championship contention on Raw and feud with the likes of Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan and Lyra Valkyria.

A reunion or rivalry with her former faction, Damage CTRL, is another intriguing possibility.

Sells

Meanwhile, The Miz heading to SmackDown while A-Town Down Under being transferred to Raw will accomplish nothing. All three are essentially enhancement talents at the moment and that isn't about to change despite them swapping shows.

Sami Zayn or Randy Orton: Who Is the Better WrestleMania 41 Opponent for Kevin Owens?

Kevin Owens has been a focal point of SmackDown throughout his feud with Cody Rhodes and has more than made the most of his renewed main event push. That shouldn't change even once his rivalry with The American Nightmare runs its course.

The odds of KO leaving the Royal Rumble as undisputed WWE champion are slim to none, but he does have two potential marquee matches awaiting him at WrestleMania 41 against Randy Orton or Sami Zayn.

Owens sidelined Orton with a piledriver in early November after teaming—and forging a friendship—with The Viper for the better part of 2024.

Orton has yet to return but could factor into KO's championship clash with Rhodes and rekindle their rivalry there in time for a 'Mania match.

While that story writes itself, Owens also has unresolved issues with Zayn, who he confronted last Monday on Raw and pressured to help him defeat Rhodes at the Royal Rumble.

Zayn refusing to do so and KO retaliating by eliminating him from the men's Rumble match later in the night would seamlessly set that bout up for The Show of Shows.

Of the two directions, Owens vs. Zayn currently has the more substantial storyline support. If The Rock won't be involved with WrestleMania in April, Orton would be a worthy challenger for Rhodes at the event.

Adam Page vs. MJF Is AEW's Greatest Unexplored Feud

AEW has delivered many memorable storylines in the last six years and most of its biggest bouts have been done, but Tony Khan has yet to pull the trigger on one storyline that has the potential to be exceptionally special.

Seeds were planted for the future feud on the Jan. 22 edition of Dynamite when MJF briefly crossed paths with "Hangman" Adam Page on the entrance ramp.

Amazingly, the two AEW originals have somehow eluded each other for their entire respective runs, aside from a one-off outing to determine the inaugural Dynamite Diamond Ring winner in late 2019.

Their rivalry doesn't appear to be imminent as a result of MJF being busy with Jeff Jarrett, but it should be. Both former world champs are in desperate need of something significant and a program between them could be what allows them to return to relevancy.

Page contended for AEW's top title as recently as Worlds End, but he hasn't been featured nearly as prominently as he was last summer into the early fall. A gradual, organic babyface turn should inevitably lead him to MJF, who could use a beloved babyface to bounce off of again.

From a failed feud with Adam Cole to a sporadic schedule in the final months of 2024, MJF's aura has taken a hit. Of course, he can easily be redeemed with the right creative, and Page will be the person to bring the best out of him sooner rather than later.

Jacob Fatu on Fast Track to WWE Main Event

WWE again played it safe with a second straight Saturday Night's Main Event installment filled with predictable outcomes.

The show had its fair share of highlights, chief among them being Jacob Fatu's outstanding display of destruction during his post-match assault on Braun Strowman.

The match itself left a lot to be desired due to the disappointing disqualification finish, but Fatu incapacitating The Monster of All Monsters with multiple moonsaults afterward caused him to be unanimously cheered by the crowd.

The Bloodline story may not be fully over just yet, but Fatu will prove to be the biggest breakout star of the bunch once all is said and done.

The former MLW standout is already excelling at a main event level despite only having had a handful of singles matches so far on WWE TV. He's headlined three WWE premium live events and shown amazing promise with his promos.

WWE shouldn't wait long to have the 32-year-old sever ties with Solo Sikoa and branch off into the singles ranks permanently. If he isn't competing in a high-profile match at WrestleMania 41, he should be someone the company builds around in the months that follow.

Fatu has merely scratched the surface of his talents, and those unfamiliar with his work before WWE are in for a real treat.

Give Alexa Bliss What She Wants, WWE

Alexa Bliss is most likely a name most fans have forgotten about after two years since she last appeared on WWE TV, but that shouldn't make her any less of a priority for the promotion to re-sign.

Per PWInsider Elite, she is seeking a new deal with "more money and perks" while WWE was hoping to bring her back under her existing deal, which was extended due to her absence. Creative plans were put on hold when the two sides couldn't come to an agreement ahead of her expected return on the Jan. 13 edition of Raw in San Jose.

Bliss, 33, has had an incredibly successful run in WWE. She quickly ascended to superstardom upon being drafted from NXT to SmackDown in 2016 and went on to win the Raw and SmackDown women's titles multiple times in the next two years.

She reinvented herself alongside Bray Wyatt in 2020 and 2021 and was over with the audience regardless of whether she was portrayed as a heel or a babyface. The same can't be said for the majority of the current roster, but working with an established star such as Bliss can help them get to that next level.

The Goddess would be a natural fit in The Wyatt Sicks given her history with Uncle Howdy, but she'd also be useful in the midcard scene on either Raw or SmackDown.

Bliss is well worth the investment for WWE as she'll add to the depth of the women's division.
