AJ Dybantsa is still a couple of years away from starting his NBA career, but it looks like he has at least one preferred landing spot.
Dybantsa shared his admiration for San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama and said that the two could form a "crazy duo" if he were to be drafted by San Antonio in 2026.
"I think Victor is just ridiculous; the things he does are just crazy," Dybantsa told ESPN's Brian Windhorst. "I just think we would've been a crazy duo. Now the odds of that happening are very slim. But I mean, it was just a thought that came up in my mind when he got drafted. But you never know."
Dybantsa is the projected No. 1 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and has committed to play the 2025-26 collegiate season at BYU. He currently plays for Utah Prep, where he is averaging 21.5 points, 12.7 assists and 3.2 rebounds.
While San Antonio would love to select Dybantsa, the current state of the rebuild may mean the Spurs are too good to pick at the top of the 2026 NBA Draft. San Antonio is currently 20-22 and has matched win totals from 2022-23 and 2023-24.
Wembanyama is averaging 24.6 points, 10.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 37 games this season and has cemented himself as a superstar. His ascension is a good sign for the Spurs' future, and Dybantsa's admiration reflects what may become a growing trend of young stars wanting to team up with the French phenom.
