Six days away from his commitment date, 5-star prospect Caleb Wilson has narrowed down his list of schools to three.
Appearing on 247Sports' College Basketball Show (h/t Travis Branham of 247Sports), Wilson revealed North Carolina, Kentucky and Ohio State as his top three schools and he will make his decision on Jan. 23.
"I'll be committing next Thursday, it'll be on a huge platform and I'm excited for it," Wilson said.
Wilson is the No. 5 prospect in a loaded 2025 recruiting class, per 247Sports' composite rankings. The only players ahead of him are AJ Dybantsa, Cameron Boozer, Darryn Peterson and Nate Ament.
Ament is the only other member of that group who has yet to announce his college commitment.
There is no crystal ball projection for Wilson on his 247Sports' player profile page.
On the show, Wilson cited the head coaches for each of his three finalists as "great" guys and mentioned the importance of having a good point guard on the roster as being "very important" for his decision.
Wilson specifically mentioned Ohio State's Bruce Thornton and North Carolina's Elliot Cadeau as "great" guards he would like to play with if they were to return to college for the 2025-26 season.
In case Kentucky fans are a little worried, Wilson did note head coach Mark Pope's system "really fits a long '4' like me in the way that they play."
Wilson also provided a self-scouting report on the show:
"You'll be getting ... I play with extreme effort and passion. I can defend the best player, no matter what position they play. I can play multiple positions offensively and defensively. I'm a willing passer and I make good decisions. And also I'm a leader, most importantly first and foremost. I'm always looking to get better..."
This certainly suggests Wilson hasn't picked a clear favorite among his three finalists. The 17-year-old is the all-time leading scorer at Holy Innocents Episcopal School in Atlanta, reaching 1,500 career points in an 83-35 win over Carver on Jan. 7.
Wilson is averaging 18.9 points, 11.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 3.7 blocks per game this season. He has cited three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokić as a player he models his game after, particularly because of his passing and playmaking.
