AEW Collision Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction and Highlights From January 11

Doc-Chris Mueller

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of AEW Collision on January 11.

Here's a look at what AEW advertised for this week's show:

Let's take a look at everything that happened on Saturday's episode of AEW Collision.

Cope vs. Big Bill

Collision. AEW

After a few quick backstage promos, Collision kicked off with Cope taking on Big Bill. The Redwood showed off his strength by locking up and forcing Copeland to the corner.

Chris Jericho was on commentary mocking Copeland as he slammed Bill's head into the announce table several times.

Bill focused a lot of his offense on Cope's previously injured neck, especially when they were fighting at ringside, which was most of the first half of the match before the break.

In some ways, this was the most WWE-style match AEW has done, but not because most of the people in and around the ring are former WWE stars. It was paced similarly to how a WWE match would go.

There was lots of taunting and posturing between each sequence, but that allowed both men to sell the big spots better. Feeling like a WWE match isn't a bad thing if they do a good job, and Cope and Bill did that.

Surprisingly, Bill kicked out of Cope's Spear, which caused everyone in the arena to get to their feet. Cope hit a second Spear and then choked Bill out for the win. Jericho and Keith attacked the winner as soon as the bell rang. FTR made the save and a huge brawl ensued

Result: Copeland defeated Big Bill

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

Pac vs. Komander

Collision. ROH

Hangman Adam Page delivered a passionate promo from backstage to challenge Christopher Daniels to a Texas Death Match.

Next up was Pac taking on ROH TV champion Komander in a non-title bout. They locked up and Pac immediately asserted control with a side headlock takeover.

The masked man pulled out some of his signature high-flying moves like walking the top rope for a moonsault, but even when he was in control, it never really felt like he had a chance to win.

Pac's level of aggression has increased since joining up with the Death Riders, so he is much more brutal in his approach than he used to be. Everything has an extra level of anger behind it.

Komander saved his manager from being assaulted by The Bastard, but the moonsault he hit took a toll on him, too.

While this was a good match, it was a little slower in places than expected because Pac wasn't trying to go 100 mph. He was methodical in his approach and tried to inflict as much damage as possible instead of trying to hit the biggest spot.

The final couple of minutes was the most exciting part of the match, which ended with Pac scoring a submission victory.

Result: Pac defeated Komander

Grade: B+

Notable Moments and Observations

Death Riders vs. Outrunners

Collision. AEW

Castagnoli and Yuta came out to help Pac keep attacking Komander, but Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum made the save to get their tag match with the Death Riders going.

The Outrunners got in a surprising amount of offense during the early part of the match, especially whenever Yuta was in the ring.

Once the initial chaos settled, this turned into a relatively standard tag match, but in a good way. They were using tags, hitting good double-team spots, and working the crowd.

This match never really slowed down and saw all four men have several moments in the spotlight. The Outrunners looked great in this match, and it may even be one of their best performances to date because they looked good against two guys who are known for being incredible performers.

Yuta got the pin for his team after Claudio launched him off the top rope for a splash. Castagnoli looked upset and yelled at Yuta about something after they won.

Result: Death Riders defeated The Outrunners

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

Mariah May vs. Harley Cameron

Collision. AEW

The next matchup saw May, the women's world champion, take on Cameron in a non-title bout.

May talked some trash and then found herself needing to kick out of several pinning combinations from her enthusiastic opponent.

The Glamour cornered her and stomped her into the mat in a display of aggression. This could have been a short one-segment bout with May getting a decisive win, but they ended up fighting through a commercial break and getting more time than expected.

Cameron began making a comeback after the break, but it wasn't enough to take down the champ.

While this match certainly could have been improved in a few places, it was fun because Cameron and May are such great characters. The crowd was into it and that is often the most important thing.

Result: May defeated Cameron

Grade: C+

Notable Moments and Observations

Brody King Squash, Daniel Garcia vs. Katsuyori Shibata

Collision. AEW

Brody King had a squash match against a local talent this week. Julia Hart accompanied him to the ring and watched with glee as King destroyed his opponent.

Result: King won

Grade: Incomplete

The TNT title was on the line this week when Garcia defended the belt against Shibata. They spent some time sizing each other up before locking up and fighting for control.

If you pay attention to AEW, you know that Garcia is one of the best technicians and Shibata is one of the best strikers, so saying this match was good is like saying water is wet. It's obvious.

Even though Garcia came into this as the champion, Shibata still felt like the bigger deal, which made the champion work that much harder.

This match was a great example of how putting two talented guys in the ring is all you need sometimes. They weren't bitter rivals or longtime partners-turned-enemies. They were just two men fighting over gold. It was simple and meant the story never overshadowed the match.

Garcia was able to defeat Shibata with a jackknife cover. He looked ecstatic while Shibata looked like he couldn't believe he allowed himself to be beaten that way. The Wrestler still listed Red Death's hand in a sign of respect.

Result: Garcia defeated Shibata

Grade: B+

Notable Moments and Observations

Dax Harwood vs. Chris Jericho

Collision. AEW

This week's main event saw Harwood take on ROH champion Jericho in a non-title bout. Both men came to the ring alone, so nobody was at ringside to cause any shenanigans.

They had a long lockup that actually saw them roll out of the ring without breaking the hold, but they eventually broke so they could get back in and avoid a countout.

While this match had some good physicality, it definitely fell short compared to some of the other bouts we got this week.

Harwood is a fantastic performer who was able to help Jericho in some places, but a few moments stood out as awkward or mistimed.

Jericho hit the ref in the eye in a way that looked accidental, but it was on purpose so he could use the ROH title as a weapon. Jericho scored the win and his cronies came out to continue the assault on Harwood.

Cash Wheeler and Cope made the save and the show, and the Death Riders showed up to join the right. More people ran to the ring and the show ended with a gigantic brawl.

Powerhouse Hobbs became the difference maker as he took out all of the Death Riders.

Result: Jericho defeated Harwood

Grade: B-

The Final Word

Collision. AEW

This week's Collision was a strong episode in a few different ways, but most importantly, it had some strong performances in the ring.

The pacing of the show felt perfect as segments were interspersed between matches. We saw a few different storylines pushed forward both in the ring and backstage.

Pac vs. Komander and Garcia vs. Shibata were the two biggest highlights from the show, but Copeland and Big Bill put on a solid performance that had a lot of fans on social media giving them praise.

Cameron and May's match may not go down as a MOTY candidate, but it was a great showcase for how far Cameron has come since joining AEW. Not only is she one of the most entertaining personalities, but she is starting to put it all together in the ring.

Ending the show with a huge brawl felt like something that has been done a little too often recently, but the way it made Hobbs look was worth it. He was a beast in that segment and sent everyone running for the hills.

Grade: B
